postheadericon 4.1.7 has landed

Latest and greatest is 4.1.7! New version of BFS and lots of new supporting code. Some other bugs fixes, and also a new version of the HTC_IME that I ported from Hero. Get it now with CM Updater!

    Handcent SMS is not working.
    Camera is not working
    Camcoder is not working
Photo frame widget is not working (you add photo, cause it can’t see Galery).

After Camera or PF force closes – screen goes black and only status bar remains. You can only reboot manualy.

Reboot time is a little longer than previous versions.

While I love the speed, 4.1.7 is causing too many crashes (i.e., reboots) on my G1. I can’t identify the cause as it happens when I’m not actually using the phone. Reverting back to 4.0.4. I hope the BFS portion makes it into the stable build soon. Thanks for all the hard work. Keep it up!

  • Jerry D. Hedden:

I downgraded to 4.0.4, and now I have a couple issues.
    1) The Home and the Call buttons do not work. When I push Home when inside an app, I don’t get the home screen, and when I long press it, I don’t get the launcher. When I press Call on the home screen, I don’t get the dialer.
    2) When I long press Power, it only shows Reboot and Power Off. It doesn’t show Airplane Mode for instance.
The second issue is minor, but the first is a problem. Anyone have any ideas, suggestions, etc.. Thanks.

  • Michael:

Same issues as other people are having. Home button stopped working. Also, I saw the old thread for how to put your myFaves back on. I am having some issues with that, any help or suggestions would be awesome. Thanks for the mods they are great.

  • Nate Dogg:

Interesting.. Im not having any issues with 4.1.7 other than the camcorder on my TMO G1

  • Ryan:

For those with 4.0.4 downgrade problems: I had the same problem. In the end I had to format the ext partition, wipe, and reinstall 4.0.4. Phone is now running well, as usual. I tried a few fixes and the only one that worked for me was formating the ext partition. I even tried a Nandroid restore which didn’t fix the problems, however, I did not try a Nandroid restore after formating the ext partition (i’m assuming this would work, however). I guess my long winded post is to point out that if all else fails format the ext partition and go from there.

  • Jerry D. Hedden:

@Ryan, thanks for the info, but pardon my ignorance. How did you reformat the ‘ext’ partition? Thanks.

  • tw3k:

    Push’d!

Had two acore waits on reboot. Removed all non-std Widgets. Smooth sailing thus far.

  • Jerry D. Hedden:

I tried reformatting the ‘ext’ partition, but that failed to fix the Home button issue. I had to do a complete wipe to restore back to 4.0.4. (Oh, well. I knew the job was dangerous when I took it. :)

  • lil_asian:

yeah their a lot of problem with 4.1.7 one of the is the wifi it keep on turning on it self..

  • Kot:

What is more. After connecting to PC I can’t mount SD card – there is info about debugging mode. Charging LED is not working but phone is charging.

I’ve had a horror when battery was dead, I was charging it but nothing happend… I couldn’t power G1 on. I removed the battery and after putting battery in again it started to load. Ufff.

  • Michael Adick:

    @Kot:
same with me, can’t mount SD. i can read the SD card within G1 (e.g. with linda file explorer), and I can read the SD card with an external card reader, but can’t when it’s inside the G1. Mounting SD card triggers the PC to detect (open the window that searches the contents), but cannot open the folder. When double-click on the driver letter, Windows returns error: “Disk drive not formatted”…

dear CM devs: no criticism, because I admire what you do, and this is an experimental build, so we can expect this to happen, but last night you told me in your last Email in regards to the SD card that it’s a “non-issue”…

seems however many people have this issue not only me…

  • Sanjeev:

I loved the speed of 4.1.7, but there are two many reboots so downgraded to 4.0.4. Havn’t had any issues, I did a wipe and nandroid restore. Great work…..cool recovery image is the key…:)

  • Ben:

Hi! I got my mytouch yesterday, and i had looked up modding for it a few days in advance, because i like to do it. and your roms, especially this build, are AMAZINGLY fast, thanks so much and keep up the great work :D

  • So, I’ve read the comments and it seems that a lot of people have had trouble with this rom.

So far (been running 4.1.7 since the hour of release) I haven’t had a single error or non-working app. Camera, Handcent, Widgets, EVERYTHING works as desired. No crashes, no lag, no problems.

On another note, I posted on the XDA thread, and got a response, but I couldn’t work it out myself. The extended menu and hidden apps drawer is gone in this version, a bloke on XDA said to manually install the launcher, all my attempts at that have failed.
    Anyone got THAT working?

  • complx:

same here, wanted to use Advanced Launcher to reduce to three homescreens but not working

  • Stef:

After downgrading back to the stable release the home key no longer works and one press of menu unlocks the screen instead of two – most odd.

  • I think The Home and the Call buttons do not work. When I push Home when inside an app, I don’t get the home screen, and when I long press it, I don’t get the launcher. When I press Call on the home screen, I don’t get the dialer.

  • I had the same problem. In the end I had to format the ext partition, wipe, and reinstall 4.0.4. Phone is now running well, as usual. I tried a few fixes and the only one that worked for me was formating the ext partition.
