    updated my g1 to .11.1 yesterday…..but my phone now seems slower than ever….is it only me or other r 2 facing the same thing…please help

  • Kamran

    Updated yesterday, lost some apps and also following apps are gone:

    Market
    Google Talk
    Google Maps
    IM

    Lost those above mentioned apps as well as many other apps like palringo etc.

    Can somebody help me please? What should I do to get those apps back? specially the official ones as I cannot download their apk files from anywhere.

    please help!

    Thanks,
    K

    Just flashed the update on my G1 using the cm-updater. Works like a charm. It seem the responsiveness is a bit improved, however, the effects seem reduced. I cannot really spot the difference, but I know there is some..

    Keep up the good work :)

  • siani_8

    @Kamran

    IM isns’t included on this release; try the Market. I use Hi AIM and now I’m glad the T-Mobile IM app isn’t there or I might never have tried it. I lost the market and some some other apps on the last release. I got it back by doing a wipe in recovery mode and re-flashing. It was annoying setting up all my apps agian but it worked

  • siani_8

    My 2 cents on this release….. I love it! I dont’ boot up very fast like some claim but once it does boot everything it running very smooth – definitely faster than the 4.2.10 on my phone. As a matter of fact, the only thing that would make me want to upgrade again would be MT improvements. Until then, I’m sticking with this. Only a couple of apps had force close issues that were quickly resolved by a reinstall of those individual apps.

    Hi! My Android Dev Phone 1 is on 4.2.9.1 and it does not show any available ROM updates. What’s wrong?

  • cray

    What happened to the google news widget that was included in .10? I LOVED that one and now it’s gone with .11

    My only complaint, otherwise it’s great

  • Kamran

    @ Sianni

    Thanks for the tip, I will try wipe and the re-flash again. Will let you know the result once it is done. I hope to get all the apps and Market back.

  • http://webofandroids.blogspot.com/ Vladimir Kelman

    @mbm,
    Thanks! I set it to display all ROMs and it displayed 4.2.11. Updating now. Hopefully, a new fixed version of CM Updater will be released soon.

  • spichanator

    Am I the only one seeing g-mail synching issues with this build? I didn’t think so before, but today i’ve been trying some test messages with no success. Also, when I delete from the phone, the delete is not carrying over to the web. Seems to be a communication issue. This happened in a previous build a long time ago. All else is running great and it seems like this just started today. Could it be a T-mo issue as they move to 7.2? :)

  • http://webofandroids.blogspot.com/ Vladimir Kelman

    @cray,
    I can send you google news widget apk. Drop me a note vkelman at gmail etc.

  • garrmack

    I really like having a modded g1, but it seems like my friend’s stock build is quicker than mine. Is there something that I’m not doing that will make it snappier?

  • Kurt

    Does anyone else have my WiFi problem? My phone loses wifi “Unable to turn on Wifi” and the settings panel for wireless controls is innaccessible after attempting to turn on/off. I gowngraded to 4.2.9 and the problem went away.

  • siani_8

    @spichanator

    I’m sure you checked this already but just in case….try settings/data synchronization/ and put a check next to Gmail.

  • Sim1

    @Vladimir
    The cm updater works fine, the problem is in the numbering. It sees 4.2.10 or .11 or .11.1 as lower than 4.2.9. Steve needs to make 4.3.0 and cm would work fine.

  • spichanator

    Thanks for the thought siani_8, but since it only seems to be a problem for outgoing, I don;t think that’s it.

  • Kamran

    @ Siani_8

    I tried everything, first I tried Su and fix_permissions, didn’t work and I was still missing loads of apps including all Google apps such as Market, Google Talk, Google Maps, etc.

    Not only that I am missing google apps but also other precious apps that I downloaded in past 3 months.

    I tried wiping as well and re-flashed but still the same issue, haven’t got my apps back. This is upsetting any other ideas?

    Thanks,
    K

  • jordan

    @ Kamran you need to flash htc rooted base first then cyanogen mod over the top, follow the steps at xda . You could try other rooted bases but I wouldnt. Good luck

  • Kamran

    @Jordan

    My G1 is already rooted and I was on CM 4.2.5 and upgraded to 4.2.11. Since then I have this problem. I am trying my Nandroid back to see if that can recover me back to the 4.2.5 as I took a backup before upgrading to CM 4.2.11. I will post whatever the result would be.

    If I still face the same issue then obviously I am gonna use HTC rooted base and flash to CM 4.2.11.

    Thanks for any insights from anyone!

    DL yesterday and having problems with Home Screen loading up. Seems every time I hit Home button or end a program which go’s to the Home screen, it takes 10 to 20 seconds to load. Please fix!

  • Paolo

    CM 4.2.9.1 not showing any available updates either.

  • bowly

    I found 2 major issues with this release:
    -in call volume isn’t saved in next call (very annoying because the default volume level is too low).
    -home screen loading up is too slow.
    And a small one: multitouch zooming for gallery goes in steps

  • mnguyea

    It is amazing the amount of complaints that I read here rather than the appreciating that cyanogen does for Android. Don’t people read through the comments first before making a comment? I mean if another person ask why they can’t see the update….try reading #13 pg2…because I’m sure someone before you had the same problem.

    I’m a total noob at this but managed to figure it out by reading the wiki and xda. If it doesn’t work at step 10 then maybe you go back to step 1 and if you can’t figure out step 1 then you shouldn’t be rooting the phone in the first place.

  • Ron

    Does NewsRob work with Cyanogen again?

  • Thasro

    @Kurt,
    I have been having the same wifi issue for the past few updates. Since I hardly use wifi on my G1 I never reported it.

  • G1-narls Buckley

    Good riddance IM App! I use IM+ Lite. I could even do without Google Talk, and the Amazon MP3 Store Apps as well. That would shave some bulk off of the ROM. And while we are at it, get rid of SlideMe (SAM) too. I get rid of that app, thing after doing an update.

  • Gentry

    1st thing – Cyanogen rocks! Thanks for all you do for our Androids! – Next, 4.2.11 Rom had me stuck on 2nd boot screen. Cleared the dalvik cache, wiped, still no deal. I was able to boot without the SD Card inserted however. Tried the fix ext filesystem from BL, no change. I’m thinking I have an app on my sdcard that is not allowing the upgrade to boot, going to have to pull some of the apps off to figure out which one(s).
    Thanks again!

  • Patrick

    Thanks as always! Any I can get locale (the app) to work again? It hasn’t worked right since 4.2.8… tried the usual uninstall-reinstall even a wipe and still doesn’t work. It just changes situations every 5 min. Anybody else have this problem?

  • http://robertcarpenter.net Robert Carpenter

    Most excellent work. This sped up my phone considerably. Your contribution to the Android project is what makes owning my phone the joy it is.

    Thanks!

  • gconcepts

    Will vpn be back in any newer roms?

  • Marvin

    can anyone refer me to a guide on how to do a full wipe and get all the google apps to work. mainly I want google voice and maps to work. thanks.

  • Oscar R

    WOW its fast….
    Super responsive, only a few force closes/glitches. The only thing that I found that really bothers me is that when I plug my headphones in and try to watch a video on youtube, the phone reboots. I’ll try to do a clean install with wipe and everything tomorrow, because I didn’t have time today.

  • Alex

    The MyTouch has NEVER been faster! THANKS.

  • terryx

    I keep having to roll back to 4.2.6 as every release since has caused my MT3G to be sluggish opening apps and navigating the home screens. It also takes forever to wake the phone. This is a problem especially when a call comes in. I’ve missed the call before I know who was calling. The menus seem snappy but that’s about it. It’s too bad because I love the new features and I am stuck with these bouncing menus. But 4.2.6 has been the most reliable, with the least bugs and the quickest for me. What is different in the subsequent releases to cause these problems?

  • CyanNewbie

    I’ve been using Cyanogens ROMS since his first version. Anyone else having a problem with the last couple of versions & current one, with the screen not responding with the correct area of the screen being tapped. Say you want to tap on a icon that is in the top left of the screen, and the app drawer (from bottom center of the screen) opens. You tap a icon in area B and the icon in area E responds. Doesn’t always happen, but is annoying…

  • Evengard

    I don’t know what have you done with it… But it is really fast…
    But still have jbed not working since 4.2.9…

  • mbm

    Sim1: Version numbers generally are set by milestones or release schedules of some sort. If Cy isn’t prepared to bump his version past 4.2 yet, he shouldn’t have to. IMO, since CM Updater is catering to his software, it should be adjusted to understand his versioning scheme.

  • http://ezio.deviantart.com ezio

    I love this new release, works like a charm :)
    Smooth and stable, no FC on google apps (after wipe, donut and 4.2.9.1 reinstall bifore update).

  • Andy Ward

    Its worth commenting that handcent SMS really slowed down my phenomena with this rom.

  • AndyC

    I took on board some of the suggestions above about wiping, putting the base 1.6 down and then 4.2.11.1 and that seems to have made quite a difference. I have always just applied the next version, from about 4.1 up. Now very fast, the odd little nigglies that most were experiencing seem to have gone. I don’t have that many apps installed so don’t use app2sd so I can’t comment on the SD card issues. Excellent job Steve, thanks.

  • Theo

    Thanks a bunch for this update!, great job!. Only issue is it seems a bit sluggish installing apps to my sd. Running a G1 with a 600mb ext3 partition on a 16 gig card.

  • Pamput

    The first time I installed this update my phone stucked at the first boot (It starts looping at the CyanogenMod logo). I had to shutdown the phone by unpluging the battery, rollback to 4.2.10.1 by console and then re-update to 4.2.11.1 by CMupdater. All goes fine this time.

    One question: is there any possibility to implement in a future release a way to listen to music with a headset without A2DP? It should be possible since we can listen to music for a couple of seconds at the beginning and at the end of an incoming call.

    Regards.

  • Itarille

    Has anyone here experienced any issues using Nandroid 2.2 to perform a backup? Usually before I use the latest update I would perform a back up first. Seems like on .11, it experiences an error and would not execute. Can anyone please kindly advise on this?

  • Itarille

    Hi again, please delete my previous comment as well as this one… It turns out the SDcard got full… Sorry for the waste of space…

  • Broke

    Started having problems again. Upon several failed attempts to reinstall, I realized that the Cyanogen Wiki 1.6 base was a better file to use than the HTC 1.6 base I’d been using all along. I’m not sure what the difference is, but it just feels more smooth and seamless. I wouldn’t be surprised if this fixes all the random stuff I been experiencing lately. Still loving this ROM and all the latest updates!

  • Planetxbob

    I still have a very annoying bug, when I get a text message or call when I have the wired headset in and listening to music the music will nit resume afterwards, it shows that its playing in the notification bar but I get nothing, also after this happens I can only adjust the media volume with the side buttons and can’t hear people if they call until I restart my phone… can someone at least confirm this is happening to them too?

  • http://tonybullard.com Tony Bullard

    I’m having a lot of issues with this release. Using the call list to start a call is very slow, sometimes force closing. All notifications across the board seem to be very slow/not working. That goes for gmail, email, sms, and other apps notifications.

  • mario

    cannot make swap work.
    in userinit.sh
    swapon /dev/block/mmcblk0p3;
    sysctl -w vm.swappiness=30;

    but it didnot work

    and cannit find how make root in 4.2.11

  • [email protected]

    i love this update the only problem i seem to notice with it is i dont get text message notifications like before unless the messaging window is left open.

  • Gentry

    Thats Better! I was stuck at the 2nd boot screen after flashing .11 from .10, so I back loaded .10, then tried to use cm updater to go back to 11, but it was force closing after the MD5 sum check… so I cleared the dalvik-cache (just in case) and then flashed manually from the system restore. A long initial 2nd boot screen had me unconfortable, but it eventually came up, now it seems like I’m back on the right track! Big Thanks again to Cyanogen for all you do!
