CyanogenMod 4.2.12

New version is out which fixes bugs for non-US locales, adds the updated Contacts app, some kernel fixes and other minor things.

Get it with CM Updater or check out the thread on XDA Developers.

Is anyone here using a late Cyanogen build and the iheartradio app? I can’t get it to work for me; it’s never able to connect to a radio station. Droidlive works for me.

I had only problems with 4.2.11 but than 4.2.11.1 came and fixed them (issue with the sd card). The current release works just great. I’m wondering if it is possible to have 2 branches, one test, other one stable. New things could go to the test and checked by testers and then moved to stable.

im a bit of a noob, but for the people that are having problems with market and crap like that the gapps force close thing, umm check your talk app is working, if not then what i did was downgrade to rc29 and work my way back up worked for me. but if you find a way to replace talk without the downgrade and upgrade then you could try that.

My music application crash everytime i try to start it .

for those who think cyanogen is moving to fast, chill out. he can move as fast or as slow as he wants. he dosent owe us anything. it is a privledge to be able to flash his roms and we are fortunate that there are people like him. if you dont like his current rom use one that works for you or try things like wipeing or flashing again. 4.2.12.2 is working perfect for me, thanks cyanogen! its people like you that make android so great.

After the update (as usual, by CM Upgrade) ROM works great.
There is only one problem, the MP3 store works in the background but I do not have icons (disappeared after the upgrade to 4.2.11) and I can not use it.
Has anyone noticed something similar?

I made a mistake recently. By an accident i removed my sd card. I new what would happen. fix permissions and fixing ext didnt help. So i formated my ex3 wiped 2 times installed “defanged” base and .12 upgrade and .12 BFS 10 MB hacks on top of it with Latest Enoch theme. Guys believe me this rocks. No FC since then No issues No problems at all. Super fast.

I’ve had a look around and can’t seem to find any info on this, apologies if it is there. But I’ve always updated over the top of the previous CM roms until the last one, when I went back to base and then 4.2.11. I decided at this point to set up Apps2SD, which is working a treat. Question is if I go back to base, then 4.2.12, what happens with your apps do I need to do anything special? Grateful for any info.

They will be visible. But i believe some of them (protected ones) will just dissapear. But there is a soulution. After a clear install and wiping your ext go to the market to your downloads. It will show all the apps you had previously. Just install them again one by one but do not exit market before that.

Hi,

since i updated to 4.2.12.2 the phone just randomly reboots all the time and displays a process.android.acore error message.

I reverted to 4.2.7.1 which worked fine for me.

As commented in http://www.cyanogenmod.com/home/cyanogenmod-4-2-12#comment-5306, I also have problems with my music application. It simply won’t start and returns a dialog where I can either force close or wait.

updated to 4.2.12.2 from cm update and working fine.
call log was showing new features, example. a (2) beside an entry with two calls. i went back in and that is gone and i can no longer delete an entry. any thought here?

This rom is fine. But I still have the problem with Gtalk. When I receive a new IM and I proceed to open the IM from the upper system try, then Gtalk forces to close xS it is very annoying!

More than that, everything seems to work fine for me.

Anyone else having the phone reboot when they close the keyboard? It’s been happening about the last 3 updates just applied 4.2.12 to see if it still occurs. I’m thinking (hoping) it’s a hardware issue. So to go back to stock flash the original spl and DREAIMG.nbh ? Anything else like the recovery or something?

You can just delete any data from ext partition or format it with (i use linux so this is not a problem for me. I believe you on that hated by me windows machine) gParted. Download a live CD of linux Ubuntu. When booted you will go to the top panel then System > Administration > GParted.
There was one non CM recovery that would let you format your SD but it was formating Fat/Ext and swap in the same time. So i recomend manual format. If you have a chance make it ext4

Tm running great, hRunning .2 aad force close at the start, but if you remove your widgets reboot, readd them and reboot I haven’t gotten them again. I think its mainly the clock. But over all not a problem I did a fresh install on a new sd card and its great. Running g1 and I haven’t seen a rom yet with such responsivness. This rom has been great, I might keep this rom as a “fall back to rom”. Thanks again man. Sorry for any typoes I’m at work and yea… but no problem here

Since you’re modifying the “hold power button” menu anyways (adding the reboot option), what are the chances that you can address a long standing Google issue: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=1831

It would be AWESOME if instead of saying “Turn to silent”, it was changed to “Turn to silent+vibrate” …

Using 4.2.12.2 (coming from a clean HTC ADP image with a full wipe including formatting apps2sd), I’ve had a few minor issues:
1) Yesterday, the phone spontaneously rebooted while searching for an app in the Market.
2) The screen does not turn on when the alarm goes off.
3) Today I installed Google Voice from the Market … it started the download … then started 3 more downloads of the same thing immediately afterwards. The app installed and works correctly – but it’s not showing up in the Market downloads.

I love the Cyanogen Mods dearly, no doubt about it … but is there a chance that the bug introduced with (I think) 4.2.9 that third party applications or widgets cannot set screen brightness will ever be corrected??

I miss this feature dearly ….

What is HTC ADP image? I think you should use the recomended one. the one with “defanged” <– or something like that at the name end. Did you consider that as am issue? By formatting app2sd do you mean formatting ext3/4 partition?

Screen stays off after alarm goes off. 3rd party brightness widget still dont work. Well they do if you put your phone to sleep and then wake it up. But what is wrong with original one?
Just checked my mail and it is sending mails with no problem.

I thought that was the one I had sitting on the SD card, so I just flashed it. It turned out to be the very much “fanged” official developer FW.
That sure taught me not to assume anything.
Thankfully FASTBOOT could save me!

Yes. When wiping the phone to factory, the ext3/4 partition is not formatted, so the apps are still there after registering the phone again.
It would be nice to have an easy way to completely wipe everything.

Rooted.
Made 8GB card “ext3″.
Working great with Cyanogen 4.2.9.
I just ordered a Nexus One.
Is there anything I need to do to move my 8GB card to the new phone?
Is it conditional upon whether I root the Nexus One?

I’m having a problem with Pandora. Every time I do anything (hit home button, answer a call, send a text message etc), Pandora seems to lose data connection. The program is still running but cannot access data until I quit and restart. Happened in 4.2.11 and now also in 4.2.12

Nice update! Runs nice and smooth. Typing on ChompSMS fixed, no more lost spaces. My only issue is that two of my programs are no longer on my phone. NetCounter and a speed testing program are gone. I tried to reinstall NetCounter from the market but it is grayed out. In the market it says that the program in installed, but it’s not. Feel free to email me if you can help.

@Mike – Post #38/p.3: Same exact problem for me! The Pandora Icon continues to stay in the notification bar of the T-Mobile G1 and when you click to get back into Pandora, the screen is blank except for the controls on the bottom (i.e.: list, thumbs up/down, play, skip) which do absolutely nothing when you press them. The only button that responds is the italic “i” in the upper right corner for artist/song information and as soon as you press that you get the FC error for Pandora!

I’m thinking the Pandora problem may be kinda random. I installed 4.2.12.2 while at work through CM Updater. Once I got home I installed a theme I didn’t like and ended up flashing a redownloaded 4.2.12.2 zip from my laptop. The methods may make absolutely no difference at all. I just know the problem was fixed after a second flash and no wipe.

4.2.12.2 is still stable. Installed matching Enoch theme and all apps are OK. One odd issue… when I manually reboot my G1, it crashes (apps won’t work, FC, etc.). I need to reboot up to 4 times before all comes back to normal. Now I tried without Enoch and the same thing happens. It is as if the apps are not recognized on the µSD card. The oddity is that after 3-4 reboots, all comes back. I fired-up Log Collector and sent myself a log. I will do this right after the next time I have boot problems and E-mail it to you.

Using an 8GB, Class 6 µSD card w/1GB as an ext3 partition.

Nope, not running any themes. Always vanilla Cyanogenmod rom! Just feels STOOPID! since I feel like I have an iPhone now instead of a multi-tasker! Everything else works fine from what I can see though. Haven’t tried VPN so I don’t know if that’s still broken or fixed. Tried Google Talk app and it comes up fine without any hesitations.

If you have had this PANDORA issue and fixed it, please POST!

Hey has any one have problems with the screen wall papers mine is stuck on the skateborder and i have tried to add wall papers and its still the android skateboarder.

also fix permission isnt working and i even tried to wipe my cache and it says its not there lol

Thanks a lot for this update, it is smoother. Regarding Arabic Locale, I just want to let you know that letters in Arabic are connected and in Locale you have provided they are not. So, maybe you can have them fixed sometime later. Also Israel don’t speak Arabic, they speak Hebrew, so maybe it can be removed to avoid confusion. Maybe you can put Saudi Arabia which is native tounge is Arabic.

I appreciate all your efforts, and wish you happy 2010 and years after.
