What a nice surprise! Thank you so much for the IM app and basically everything you do here. I am forever grateful.
Uh To be honest everything ran smooth for me before these last 2 updates. I always wipe before any of Cyanogen’s Update. As a result, everything usually runs fine and smooth and super fast. However this time, I’ve been getting the Google Partner Setup Error and everytime I wipe and reinstall and reformat the memory stick it still gives me the same damn error someone help me out.
Good Job!
I have a MT3G and last week installed 4.2.11.1. I liked it but had constant force closes on the home screen. Eventually drove me nuts. I’m currently Snowed at home this morning so I finally learned how to format my SD card with Fat32, Ext4 & Swap. Then I installed 4.2.12. Not sure whether the SD formatting or this latest build fixed my problems but now everything is FANTASTIC. Great work!
I feel I have earned my right of passage!! Now I’m a complete convert.
Info to share:
You need to understand this so you can type at the recovery console: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=532719
Then you need to use a combination of 2 articles to actually format your SD card because neither of them is 100% correct and complete but together you can figure it out:

and

I upgraded from 4.2.9 to 4.2.12.2. Since that update I have a mic gain problem. People complain that they can’t here me. Any ideas? That is obviously new, since I had no problems before the update and with all versions before 4.2.12.2.
could anyone let me know if this rom has swap functionality out of the box or do i have to follow some instructions to enable.the instructions on xda for swap relate to a previous rom version. anyone know how i can enable swap for this version.i have a 32 mb swap partition. the only way it shows as being used is when i enable compcache in spare parts. if compcache is disabled; “free” shows it as 0.i need some help here. my fon is slow and i understand enabling swap will speed it up.
Thank you cyanogen! You fixed the issue that I asked you before: the date in the pull down menu, now shows up in in italian/european style
Thanks a lot!
Furthermore, this version seems to run smoothly and faster than the older….
4.2.12.2 – New ROM is great, thanks for your hard work! Only thing I noticed was a small issue with the alarm clock. When it goes off now, the screen no longer turns on to display the options to ‘sleep’ or ‘dismiss’. Anyone else having this issue?
FWIW, I just upgraded to 4.2.12.2 and on the first boot or two the apps I had installed from the Market weren’t there and neither was the Market.
On the third boot, though, without me doing anything in particular they all came back.
Like other updates, there were a couple of apps that I had to uninstall and reinstall to get them working, but that’s minor. (And I wish the market had a “reinstall” option; when I uninstall and it asks me why, I have to use “I’d rather not say” because none of the other reasons are right.)
Thanks, Cyanogen!!
Guys I am reading the message from “sanders” right now.
–> How can we check if swap is being used or not?
Can someone please direct me to step by step instructions for getting the “backing swap” to work with this. I made a 64mb swap partition but i’m new at this and dont’ know how to make it work. tried folling some instuctions i found to no avail. thnx
another important question:
If I have apps running on SD card, and I disable the SD (to connect computer) nothing weird happens. The phone is ok.
But what happens if I disable the SD card where swap is being used? As far as I remember, Linux may crash is swap is unusable.
I am using G1. The mail app crashes and the speaker volume is very less. Other applications are working fine.
Great work so far Steve! Upgraded from 11 on my TMO mt3g w/o TMO internet and I’m getting much less random restarts (5%) from what 11 had!
What’s crashing for me includes: Google Talk, Browser (stock), the home screen & the music player (stock). As far as I can remember.
When it is not crashing, the home screen is really laggy!
But great work so far!
Since I upgraded, sygic mobile maps no longer works, force closes every time. Everything else works fine.. please help
I have to say man, major props, ever since I started following your builds my phone is *so* much more than I what I expected it would be. (MT3G)
Only real questions I have is (1) ebuddy isnt staying connected anymore, wondering if you would know why, and (2) do you know if theres any way if Flash is to be implimented into the phone? Once I can access hulu from the browser, thats it man, this thing is now my portable computer.
Again, major props and keep up the great work!
Guys, we are using this forum just to say “great work”, “good job” and “well done”
It was a good job of course, but people needs help here. Please refrain to repeat the same message in an infinite loop
Does anyone have a link to documentation, to enable swap space?
thanks.
@Chris:
1) there is another update, called “IM-APP”
I applied this update, and I am not sure what is doing. But it seems to me it has something to do with Instant Messaging.
Did you apply this update?
2) why you ask here about flash on the iphone?
Activating swap MANUALLY:
$ adb shell
$ fdisk -l /dev/block/mmcblk0
(identify the swap partition)
$ swapon /dev/block/mmcblk0p3
After reboot you must issue this command again.
Hey exactly what does the swap do? That is the only thing i’m confused on and don’t know what to set for it when i partition my sd card.
Hello,
After I updated my G1 to this one, all of mine Google Apps are gone. Gmail, Google Maps and Android Market. Can anybody help me plz!!!!
@Rutger, did u install the base image from htc? from what version of cyan did u come from? please give more detailed info.
@Massimiliano lol i meant like the OS not literately an iPhone. typo~ Sorry sorry, still used to referring to it just as “phone” and not an Android.
btw just read up on the Nexus, if you can impliment the os tweaks that is has going for it, then you truly rule the Roms~
lol
I upgraded this morning and ever since, my fone doesnt vibrate or ring or anything when i get a call or text. Any ideas?
I started having random reboots (logged as system crashes) with 4.2.11.1 and continuing with 4.2.12.2. I am rolling back to 4.2.10.1 to see if the behavior stops. I have a rolling verbose logcat to file on my laptop, so as long as the phone is up and the USB connected I’ll get output. I’m open to suggestions on how best to review the logs for meaningful data.
I’m a very happy CyanogenMod user, having hacked my G1 from the 1.5 TMo ROM. I hope the newer handsets are equally crackable! I’m simply too attached to root and tethering and so on.
Come to think of it…I’ll think I’ll buy him a beer!
ROM is working fine for me now. Would wiping and doing a fresh install speed things up? Or I would guess not? I know the lagginess not an issue of the ROM but rather, of the phone. If I have music playing and then go to check email or do something else, there is considerable lag.
Also, can someone point me to a link that explains what delvik-cache is and why some people clear it out? Also, I don’t think I have apps2SD set up, but does that even speed things up? I have a Class 6 SD card, but I read that all SD cards provide pretty much the same read speeds, it’s just write speeds that are different…?
I dont know if anyone is having the same problem with the market saying there is “no connection” after searching for an app and then scrolling down for more results even when full 3G and Wifi is working?
K. reinstalled update and it fixed my issue. Alls good so far and Cyanogen, thanks for making the IM-APP fix. Now that its optional I think everyone can be happy — those who want it can install it and those who dont want it can ignore it. eBuddy works great except for whenever i go back to my home, it automatically disconnects, but whatever i guess
Actually now that i look into it more, All is good until i install the IM-APP fix. Then i dont get any notifications when I recieve a call or text.
What is that IM-APP published on CM updater?
I have rooted my phone in accordance with the droidipedia site’s directions. I have not, however, seen any instructions on how to apply cyanogen to my motorola droid. If anyone can assist me, I would be very grateful. Thank you.
Anyone having issues with loosing Google Credentials?
I am sure this was happening with 12.1 so perhaps it is not the rom.
toolbum – YES!!! GRRR!!!
Have to delete Google apps Data, then log in again (run market) over WiFi.
Tried everything I can think of…resorting to a Reiki healer next.
@ Massimiliano
i just made a userinit.sh with your code jut to keep it on after reboots. works fine. but shall i consider defining swappiness? for now i havent got it defined yet.
does nandroid restore the partition on the SD card? Anyone know?
Thanks
Updating now i just hope my WIFI stops hanging with this mod
I cannot get my computer to show the files on my SD card once I have “Mounted” it. Any ideas? I’m not sure if it’s the ROM or not, but on older CM versions, I could do it no problem and transfer files between phone and computer >_<
Could someone please direct me on how to install cyanogenmod on my phone. I have obtained root access but I cannot seem to figure out how to put the mod on my moto droid. I admit that I am idiot when it comes to modifying my phone…
I have created this howto.

Hope it helps

cyanogenmod is only made for G1 and mt3g
(HTC dream and magic)
I love cyanogen’s roms I’ve been using them long before they were even legal =) I’m just wondering, are there ever going to be any roms based on 2.0 or 2.1?
PANDORA BUG for versions 4.2.9, 4.2.10, 4.2.11, AND 4.2.12
Rolled back to 4.2.8.1 and it works again: switching away from Pandora to another app keeps Pandora running in the background.
Missing APN:
mcc: 505
mnc: 03
apn: purtona.net
there is also purtona.wep, but I doubt this is needed on smart phones.

I love 4.2.12.2 so I'll keep it but I'm ditching Pandora and using Last.FM and LOVING it! Didn't know that there was something better than Pandora out there…only one thing, with Last.FM it won't cut out like Pandora (it will stutter when you try to run other apps) but it'll keep playing…however, the other app will LAG big time but I can at least live with it! (Where's my N1? Baconmod!)
I have found the power control widget slows return to “home” from Market, Browser and Manage Apps for example. It would take around 12 seconds to return to the home screen. When I remove the widget the return to Home is immediate. If this can be corrected that would be fantastic!
SugarMouth i hope you are a woman cos your mouth are so sweet that i didnt understand a word you said.
Hello,
since upgrading from 4.2.11 to 4.2.12 on my HTC Magic other people complain that they nearly hear me.
This issue was not present in 4.2.11 – any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!
Kind regards
@X10

Ballin’ work Cya. You need to add a ‘buy me a beer’ link to your website!
Bah, just found it, I’m bad.
