    Jorge –

    I don’t speak for CM, but I’d be shocked if this didn’t go to 2.0/etc at some point. Right now some of the proprietary apps don’t work on 2.0 for the G1 yet, which is holding that up. CM is about having a usable phone, so they tend not to release experimental stuff that looks great but has broken cameras/etc.

    When it works well enough for your wife to use, expect to see it here first. :)

    Ever since the “random audio playback” bug was fixed, no music player works reliably when I have my bluetooth headset connected. Mostly it just mutes briefly [the music is still "in-time" when the audio comes back] – sometimes it stops and resuming will allow a few seconds of playback before stopping again – recently it stops playing over BT headset and returns to the built-in speaker.
    I cannot recreate it reliably and I cannot fix it reliably – although mostly a cold-boot will fix it until I used the phone again.
    My G1 is my MP3 player and this is becoming a real problem for me – even a workaround would be greatly appreciated :)

    Hi cyanogen :)
    After this update my standard browser has chrashed after some time. Now when I start the browser again he chrashed again and again and again. After this I restart my g1 and it shows me that the start process is chrashed. I push the wait button and it runs. The browser runs also after the restart till he chrashs. I don’t know the reason, it can be the update or my full telephone drive.
    Sry for my english, I’am from germany xD
    I hope you can help me ^^

  • Scott Swain:

    My new Nexus 1 arrives tomorrow. My G1 is running 4.2.9. If Cyanogen intends to come out with a new stable version within 30 hours or so, I will wait but if not, I will upgrade to 4.2.12.2. Any hints whether a new version is on its way?

    I just want my G1 to have the “best” ROM installed when I give it away.

    Thanks.

  • Andrew Ward:

    I have identified a bug with this.
    The microphone volume issue is back on the HTC Magic. I have had to do the AudioPara fix again.

  • Kenny:

    Hey just installed and I get the same thing with other versions my home screen goes blank :-( I went back to 4.2.9 until this is ironed out. Is there something I can do to fix this? Other than that everything looks great I don’t wanna have to reboot everytime I do something.

  • Simone:

    @Andrew

    I have the same microphone volume issue. Could you please point me to the AudioPara fix, is is on XDA in Cyanogenmod thread?
    Any help greatly appreciated

  • aMUSEd:

    @Simone, Andrew:
    I have this bug too – a link to the fix would be great ;-)
    Thanx

  • Dkb0311:

    Hey guys, im a complet noob but i got a problem. I rooted and flashed my phone last night and its working fine (after 3 hrs of trying to flash it) but when i try to go to the andriod market it lets me in for like 10 sec’s then force closes. after the first time it force closes immediantly. Ive tried rebooting it and alt+w for wiping it. Then its does the same thing. opens for a couple seconds and force closes, then force closes immediantly after. any help would be awsome. Thanks

  • cysco24:

    Dkb0311, reboot phone, go to console, and type fix_permissions to see if that would help. then type reboot to exit console.

  • Dkb0311:

    ok thanks will do :)

  • Dkb0311:

    wait umm console? lol how do i get to that is that? still new >.< sorry

  • Dkb0311:

    ok well went into the the termanel thing and typed the fix_permissions and this is what i got verbatum:

    mount:permission denied. (are you a root user?)
    /system/bin/fix_permissions 2.03 started at 01-07-2010 19:11:34 64 does not exist ( 1 of 64) reinstall /system/bin/fix_permissions 2.03 ended at 01-07-2010 19:11:34 (runtime: 0m0s)

  • Dkb0311:

    then tried su fix_permissions and got the ## thing

  • x10:

    @Dkb0311 do u have cm-1.4 recovery?

    - reboot, go to recovery
    - go to the console
    - press enter, then u will see #
    - type fix_permissions (u will see stuff scrolling up – texts just scrolling by)
    - once that’s done, u will see # back on the screen
    - type reboot
    - then ur phone will reboot.

  • Dkb0311:

    ok did exactly as you said and its still doing the process com.android.vending has stopped unexpectedly thing. I down graded to the 2.1.99 or what ever it was and then tried to upgrade it thru the app and it froze my phone. im really begining to wonder if i can get this to work right

  • cysco24:

    Troubleshoot. Install fresh default cupcake and do the steps again to root. Install cy rom on top. If after that you still have errors i would consider wiping sd card partitions and trying again.

  • cysco24:

    - default cupcake
    - root
    - install donut 1.6
    - install cyanogenmod 4.2.12.*

  • Dkb0311:

    im lost im really stupid when it comes to this. so u want me to wipe, reinstall drc83 base defanged and then the up date, then the radio thing?

  • bitter:

    @Simone, Andrew, amused:

    same mic problem here
    a link to the fix would be great

    all else running smooth

    thanks

  • cysco24:

    I’m using the g1. I flash dream.img first. Then install from market the files needed to root. Once rooted I reboot into recovery mode. Then Install any zip from sd option, i select the dream 1.6 image from the htc site. After it’s done without rebooting, install from any zip and select cyanogens latest. after it’s done reboot. Nice and clean

  • Jag:

    Hey there, I found the last build to be more stable. With this one, for some reason all of the text messages that people send me aren’t received until after a substantial delay. I thought it was my network, but when i reverted back to 4.2.11.1, everything worked fine. I’m using the EBI1 kernel.

  • Dkb0311:

    i got it fixed i downgraded to 2.10.1 and now i can use market place and see no real diffance in UI or OS thanks for the help guys

  • Scott Swain:

    Bug or Widget?

    I’ve been using Cyanogen’s ROMs for awhile now. All along I read of people’s issues with random reboots, bluetooth not working, and all kinds of other issues. I’ve never had any of these issues. I also do not run *any* widgets, power management apps, or Taskiller; mostly avoiding anything that seems like it would need low level access. The only exception being a CPU overclocking app that seems to run fine. So… what I’m postulating here is: I wonder if people who are having all these issues with reboots, force closes, and other things not working – I wonder if they are running widgets or other apps that interfere with the OS in a way that is causing these issues so it really isn’t the fault of the ROMs?

    I propose that when you post some issue with random reboots or “____ not working” you also post a list of the non-standard apps you are running as well as any widgets you are running. Then maybe we will see some patterns… ?

  • Jorge:

    Does anyone know how much internal memory is left for apps on a G1 w/o apps2sd? I don’t really have that many apps imo my ext partition is only using almost 100mb which I’m pretty sure its more than what a g1 would have.

  • Howie:

    Is anyone else experiencing browser woes? I login to several password protected sites (normal http auth). Older releases handled this fine — I input the username/passwd combo twice and it’d be stored in some sqlite db. Versions after 4.2.2 do not seem to be consulting the sqlite password database; I have to keep inputting my username/password combo multiple times, sometimes every request.

  • Robert:

    FIRST OFF THIS IS A LONG MESSAGE SO PLEASE BARE WITH ME AND IF YOU MAKE IT TO THE END THEN THANKS FOR YOUR PATIENCE ::
    Ok, I’ve been using CyanogenMod since 4.1.9 and have been happy as all hell, but over the last two days I’ve been trying to figure out what the hell is goin on with my fone. After updating to 4.2.1.2 and adding the IM-APP fix my fone would receive texts but would not vibrate or make a sound. Also when I would receive a call, it would ring twice for the person calling in and then go to voicemail. Also the actuall button with the green phone on it, the physical button itself stopped working completely. The market also would not work. I’ve rebooted into console and done a total wipe and then applyied update and had the same issues, so I did another total wipe thru console and reverted back to 4.2.1.1 and suddenly got force close of “com.google.partnership” errors at the initilization screen where you put in your gmail account info and it wont connect to the server to sign in and validate the fone. The only way I’ve been able to get it back to working order was by restoring a previous backup with nandroid to 4.1.1.2 when things were working perfectly. Is it just my fone or does anyone else have similar issues or suggestions on how to fix all this? I’ve never had any problems til 4.1.2

    @ robert:
    Wipe yr phone before flashing and see if that fixes things. It did for me. Happy flashing!

  • siani_8:

    can someone please help me or direct me…. I tried copying the script for “backing-swap” from cyanogenmod wiki into a notepad++ and placing it into root of sd card (apps2sd is enabled and compcache is disabled in spare parts and partition 3 is set up for swap) when i go to terminal and type in “Free” it says 0 for swap. What am I doing wrong? I really appreciate any help.

  • Robert:

    FINALLY FIXED MY ISSUES. Ok what I had to do was totally wipe it for the umpteenth time and revert back to 4.1.9 thru console. Then I had to reboot into concole again and update to 4.1.2.12 and now everything seems to be working great. Shits a bit faster now as well. Lol. So now im good to go. Cynagen, thanks a bunch for your roms

  • Hellfire:

    a lot of issues with the contacts-phone app, i dunno if the phone gets slow when I look for a contact or call it, but is pretty annoying, remember me to Android 1.0

    4.2.12.2 After many many many force “home” closes, 12 second waits to return back to Home from web browser or market, major lag even with something as simple as scrolling through contacts… I un-rooted and went back to bone stock. Nice to have a phone that operates again.

  • clos:

    @sugarmouth
    it sounds like ur baliming the rom but its not the rom i install and running perfectly read instructions n follow b4 talking

    Please everyone that’s not sure if your micro SD card is ext3 or 4. Right now google it, look up how to change it, change to 3 or 4. If it’s not already, I promise you will have better results. I did mine all through command line on the phone, you’ll have to backup your shit first as it will format your card. Good luck every one :)
    …. eagerly saving up for that nexus one!!!

    here is everything you need for the mic fix:

    Tutorial is in a text file inside. you may have to make sure you navigate to the correct directory.

  • Fx:

    Hi,

    I got issues with the recent releases:
    a) Google Mail won’t send out mails (they stay in the Outbox forever). Incoming mail works fine. Also no problems with contact syncing.

    b) Phone reboots occasionally.

    Especially a) is really annoying. Any ideas?

  • motornon:

    @FX Log out of your gmail by going to Setting->Applications->Manage Applications. Then scroll till you see “google apps” open that and click the clear data button. Reboot. Go to settings->data sync-> and reenable syncing for gmail. It will ask you to log in again. this worked for me.

  • Fx:

    @motornon: Thanks! Also found this (http://sprintherotips.blogspot.com/2009/12/how-to-fix-outgoing-mail-stuck-in.html) similar solution that worked.

  • Simone:

    @Andrew #37
    Thanks so much for this info, is there a way to do it on the phone? I have a Mac and the instructions don’t apply? Sorry for the trouble.

  • Wow, cyanogenmod needs a BTS!

    thanks for this info. i’ve copied over the new AudioPara4.csv Just waiting for a call now to see if anyone can hear me!

    thanks again

    @siani_8
    From the notepad save it as a userinit.sh and place it in /syste./sd/ <– for this you will need a root explorer or just push using adb. you can use mine script:
    #!/system/bin/bash
    #
    swapon /dev/block/mmcblk0p3;
    sysctl -w vm.swappiness=30;

    #virtual memory
    sys_vm{
    sys_vm_en=1 #enable(1) or disable(0) virtual memory configurations
    page_cluster=3 # default 0
    laptop_mode=0 # default 0
    dirty_expire_centisecs=3000 # default 3000
    dirty_writeback_centisecs=500 # default 500
    dirty_background_ratio=5 # default 5
    dirty_ratio=10 # default 10
    }
    exit 0;

  • sgmathews:

    I apologize but I have a complete NEWBY question: Would someone please define/explain “wipe”? Do you mean complete reformat and repartition of the SD or are you talking about system? How? I’m having some instability issues too. Lockup, reboots, slow apps, that kind of thing. I’ve reinstalled cm 4.2.12, run fix ext errors and fix_permissions and still same. Only widget running is stock calendar.

  • Davis Jones:

    Am I the only one with audio problems. If I’m listening to music and a call comes in the audio drops out on both the music and phone. A reboot must be done. And sometimes when I plug in the headphones this occurs as well.

  • Jesse:

    hey there,
    nice update as always. I appreciate that the audio bugs have been fixed. Something I have question on, just updated manually on G1 from 4.2.9.1 – 4.2.12.2 and Amazon mp3 App disappeared. I can not seem to re-install it either. Any suggestions on what I can do besides trying to roll back to older version of ROM ?
    thanks

  • Jesse:

    Sorry, I just found the new app ‘mp3 store’ … which I am guessing replaces the old app. Seems to be working.
    thanks,

  • Scott Swain:

    Short version:
    Should I use ext 3 or ext 4?

    Details:
    OK I’m formatting my 16gb SD card and putting it in my new Nexus One.
    I’m giving my old (rooted with 4.2.12.2) G1 to a friend and putting a 4gb SD card in it.
    Since I’m starting from scratch setting up this 4gb SD card, do you recommend using ext 3 or ext 4?
