CyanogenMod-4.2.13
Another build in the “stable” series which should greatly improve stability. The services code should be backwards compatible so apps with persistent services should behave better. All-new multitouch code using the 2.0 API was added. Contacts app updated. Many other bugs fixed!
Get it with CM Updater or check out the XDA Developers thread!

G1 Dream, AmonRAv1.5.2,: I as well have to go back to earlier version. GPS rarely works. I hope people start putting the type of phone they are using. I had many problems but all went away after total wipe. Can’t get the GPS to work more than 20% of the time and that’s a deal breaker so heading a mod or two back. And #6 by Troy Fergus, dude you’re out of your mind and way out of line, unless of course you’re donating over $200 per month. Just go back to the stock Mod. Or just stay a Mod or to back and shut ur yapper!!
I went from 4.2.9 to 4.2.13 and this build is definitely using more battery power. Battery lasts half as long.
good to see the boys at work portin the 2.1 so we can all have it soon!!!
Battery is draining in this one.
does not work with tetherblu always do back up so you can go back before any up dates and you will be happy / i need tetherblu for my mac to connect to the internet
with nexus and g1 i cant imagine what will come next for g1 iam excited every day thanks to all i have a g1 for now looking for money for nexus
1st time Cyanogen user.
Gotta say it’s about 10x better than stock. Just sad that my HTC_IME keyboard keeps force closing. No more one-handed T9 for me
Scratch that! Got the keyboard working from a clean download (trashed the old .apk)! Sweet!
When will we see android 2 for the G1?
Please also take a look at the battery usage as well. It drains like water.
I used to be able to install Mobile Defense as a system app, but something changed in the last couple of weeks, either with a more recent Mobile Defense update or a more recent Cyanogenmod ROM. I’ve done a test on my Android phone by installing another app in the system and at first it didn’t work either, so I figured it must be something with the latest Cyanogen Mod ROM, but then I executed the fix_permissions file and after that, the app worked fine as a system app, but Mobile Defense continues not to work as a system app. It works fine as soon as I return it to the /data/app/ directory. Once I move it back to the /system/app directory, it ceases to exist (does not show up in Market, Application, anywhere else and cannot connect to phone). Any ideas?
I noticed that the battery was draining faster as well. I did a complete re-install, put 1.5 on the phone, and re-applying the mod, and now it appears to be working much better, and battery life appears to be better now. Maybe it will help others as well
Great mod. Most of the stuff works fine for me (T-mobile G1v1 Black, rooted after official 1.6 release). I thought multitouch did not work for me so downloaded and installed the Browser.apk from Loccy’s xda thread. I messed up. So flashed the Cyanogenmod 4.2.13 again. Got the browser back and realized the multitouch does not work for the google’s mobile version page but works for the classic mode pages and other non google pages. Overclock app works great….I see pretty good battery conservation…huge difference from before.
Folks who criticize with disrespect need to realize this is an open source community not an hired company/individual. Highway is always an option. Mental note: Need to create a page/blog with ‘open source ethics’……for dummies.
Thanks Steve Kondik, Loccy and others. Will continue to donate.
This is probably common sense for most of you, but as I’m a bit dim at times, I did’t even realize it but when you use a class 2 SD card and use apps to sd, you will have slowdowns, crashes and problems. Using a class 6 now and many problems disappeared.
This build left my g1 freezing and rebooting on its own at random times.
G1 CM 4.2.13, anybody know how to remove somebody from being “Blacklisted”? I hit the button by accident.
“G1 CM 4.2.13, anybody know how to remove somebody from being “Blacklisted”? I hit the button by accident.”
^^ im looking for that answer myself – lol
To remove blacklisted numbers, you should be able to just click on it and press ok to remove it.

I have an original T-Mobile G1, I’ve been running Cyanogen for months now … this is by far the best release to date. No hiccups, no apparent quirks or bugs that I’ve found. Battery life is a definite improvement for me. Come to think of it, I haven’t had any real problems with Cyan’s ROMs, they’ve pretty much all been way better than stock. Most of you that are having problems are, I suspect, dealing with issues that are not directly related to Cyanogenmod.
Just wanted to say great job and I love everything thats been done. Just one bug I found, go to call log, and long press any name, it force closes. everything else is so much faster and better. keep it up. G1 32B
This is my first time running a Cyanogen mod (4.2.13). I am completely blown away. I applied the 10 MB GPU hack and am running a Class 6 8GB Micro SDHC card formatted with 1GB ext 4 for my apps. It is really fast and incredibly stable. I don’t really get many force closes and compared to how many force closes I was getting with my stock 1.6, it is entirely minimal. Steve, you are the man. Thank you so much for all your hard work. I was getting ready to throw down for a Nexus 1 until I installed your mod, now I realize that I can hang with the G1 a bit longer.
Does anyone have any recommendations for “Must have apps” that are almost a necessity with the 4.2.13 mod? I would appreciate any tips.
Also… I was surprised with all of the negative comments about the new release. This is my first time modding my G1, but my experience was pretty seamless. There was definitely a learning curve, but my experience so far has been nothing but awesome. I did notice, however that on my first attempt on an install was very unstable, so I just simply booted in the “Cyanogen boot utility,” wiped and reinstalled and it worked perfectly. Nandroid is awesome. I experimented with installing about 20 apps and doing a Nandroid backup and then wiping and reinstalling and it was seamless. What a great tool, definitely provides some peace of mind. And, I can definitely say that the 10 MB hack is very worth it.
Thanks in advance for any app tips that anyone has.
I wanted to make a correction on comment #9 by Androidawg. I was looking to push the Contacts.apk to my system/app folder and you posted the code of:
su
mount -o rw,remount /system
cp /sdcard/Contacts.apk /system/app/Contacts.ap
mount -o ro,remount /system
I tried this and it didn’t work and then upon further research I discovered that you accidently left the “k” off the end of the second line of code. Hence, the correct code entry to resolve pushing the Contacts.apk to system/app folder is:
su
mount -o rw,remount /system
cp /sdcard/Contacts.apk /system/app/Contacts.apk
mount -o ro,remount /system
Hope this resolves anyone elses troubles with this issue.
Cheers!
Ok so my phone died but when i turned it on all the applications were deleted and market was uninstalled. wtf? can anyone send me the market app or something? i tried to reflash to see if i would get market back, but nope that didnt work. so yeah just need some help.
thanks.
update*
i even downgraded to a previous working cm rom and still could not extract market or a few of the other standard apps. >_>
Guys, I read your messages, and I must say that this happens when you want to play with self-arranged fixes, on something that has to be considered not a testing device, but your phone, that you need certainly for placing calls.
I stated that phone was not working properly with this ROM and I didn’t try any fix. I just downgraded to older ROM and everything is fine.
this are my two cents: don’t even try those fixes and pseudo-workarounds, such as full wipe, reinstall ota radio, deinstall and reinstall and so on.
CALL LOG ,CALLING PROCESS ALL VERY SLOW.
My Touch 3G (32b). Went from 4.2.9.1 to 4.2.13 and I have had a lot of issues, force closes on dialer, browser, email, market and more. tried clearing their cache, reinstalling the apps( the ones that I could), still does not work. Also, there is a bunch of apps that , now with this version starts in the background, why? did not have this in 4.2.9.1. I thought he was going to disable the IM (always staring in the background and I never use it – this must be something to do with google or some other sort of hack!). Why can’t I uninstall the amazon MP3 app?? I could before, that’s another one that keeps starting. WHAT IS GOING ON CYANOGEN???????
I don’t know what is going on with Cyanogen’s ROM recently, but ever since 4.2.9.1, there has been a number of issues. Maybe because of the Google C & D , he has nt shown things as much attention anymore. But, Cyanogen, I’m telling you, they have no ground for this letter….why, everyone who buys an andriod phone owns it, not google ! If we want to make mods, that up to the owner. If you are not modifying google’s apps, only the OS (which is open source), then the you are doing nothing wrong. Does everyone who make modification to the windows OS ( tweaks, registry settings, or directory structure) gets a C&D from Microsoft….NO! they would be suing everyone. So, Cyanogen, please go back to the quality work you used to do.
This build works GREAT on my g1! I installed it about a week ago and all has been fine since. I had been using CM 4.0.4 for quite awhile, holding off until it looked like there was a really stable version. This is it! I did fully wipe data, cache, and the dalvik-cache first. It cleared up some minor problems (like Maps running out of memory) that I was having with 4.0.4.
I was nervous about installing 4.2.13 on my MT3G, the fixed Contacts.apk and the 10MB Hack (complexity=more likely to break, right?), but it went smoothly and I haven’t seen any problems. Background services like mail & text messaging don’t seem to be missed any more. I’m still annoyed that Android needs so much help to work acceptably but eternally grateful to a community that wants to make things better.
BTW, I installed Contacts by flashing the .img (downloaded via XDA). I was concerned the .apk install would break app IDs as I had read on XDA.
(MT3G, 4.2.13, no themes, no compcache, home in memory, apps2sd and a swap partition.)
I forgot to say, on 4.2.11 and 4.2.12 I sometimes got 2 spaces (and therefore a .) when hitting the on-screen keyboard’s spacebar. Mostly after a number or quote. At first 4.2.13 stopped haptic feedback working, but after I turned all haptic/vibrate settings off and back on, all returned to normal and the double-spaces have gone.
Yes, I guess that did count as 1 problem, but it got better!
beautiful! just got my g1 last week and installed cyanogen tonight. i love it! thanks a ton guys! this is awesome!
Its sad to say this but due to speed and stability issues with this (and previous) cyanogen roms on my HTC Magic, I have now switched to Dwangs donut rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=567023
Dwangs rom is insanely faster for me.
I’ve had problems with Exchange synchronization in nearly all CM builds, including this one. 4.2.11.1 was one of the only versions that seemed to sync correctly and alerted me to new messages in Work Email. This is critical for me, so I’ve reverted back.
Turning the airplane mode works out after reboot.. After once you’ve started it you must reboot the phone so it actually turns out.. I consider this as a bug, because it never occurred to me before.
I don’t use this mode on regular matter, however it would be nice to get this fixed
long press on a contact from call log causes FC =/
Finally took the plunge and rooted my MyTouch using this build. So far I have no problems to report. I haven’t experienced any unusual FCes and Gmail and Work E-Mail but synchronize fine.
I’m still looking forward to some 100% working 2.x builds but until then, this ROM will definitely tide me over.
I reinstalled this version and did the data wipe and everything seems to work fine. The speed is very nice.
I’m seeing some problems where my phone will just let out one or two vibrates, in vibrate mode, but I’m not getting a call, and there’re no notifications about texts. Or any texts. Or email. Or anything. It’s really annoying. And the not notifying about texts goes on all the time. It’s been since 4.2.12, and I haven’t wiped since then. And my apps on sd hasn’t been formatted since… well a long time ago.
Also, #22: Assuming you downloaded the fixed Contacts.apk via the browser, you can just
su
cd /sdcard/download
mount -o rw,remount /system
cp Contacts.apk /system/app/
mount -o ro,remount /system
I got impatient and switched over the manups 2.1 ROM. I just couldn’t deal with the rom. After full wipe and install back to CM batter live improved, and the freezing went away. I learned my lesson and will stay on CM rom from now on.
Hello Mr.Cyanogen
(and all other modders and devs)
I would like to start by saying I have been watching your and others work since the G1 was released and you guys got to work on it. I came from an HTC 8125 with windows mobile and touch flow, and loved it, I waited till the process became simpilier like the 8125. off topic…
None the less, I flashed to your 4.2.12 on my g1 after rooting it 2 weeks ago and have now updated to this build and I FREAKING LOVE IT….
THANK YOU
TO YOU AND ALL THE DEVS THAT MAKE THIS STUFF POSSIBLE
Without this mod and other mods the G1 is 5/10 with this stuff you make it 12/10 and an iPhone KILLER!!!
When I get some money together…..after getting the wife a MT3G, I am going to donate $20 to every dev who makes your work possible.
Please send me a list so I can donate to the cause and help further the new 2.1 and beyond roms……
Thank you again

@ Massimiliano:
“Guys, I read your messages, and I must say that this happens when you want to play with self-arranged fixes, on something that has to be considered not a testing device, but your phone, that you need certainly for placing calls.”
–This is an open source project. It is not stated anywhere that it is going to be 100% stable. Don’t use it if you don’t like it. If you have a problem, report it on the Issue Tracker.
“this are my two cents: don’t even try those fixes and pseudo-workarounds, such as full wipe, reinstall ota radio, deinstall and reinstall and so on.”
–My two cents: Remove the CyanogenMod ROM, and go back to the stock ROM. If that is not good enough, sell your phone. Do something to help, other than bitching about it. Microsoft is coming out with the “Zune Phone.” That might be more up your alley.
Will cm 5.0 come available for the g1?
cyanogen has said yes, but after the nexus1 mod is finished…which it looks like it is now (i think)
i think (and hope) that by the end of the week we should have one for G1 and Magic/mt3g
if we do, i will give cyanogen a little bonus donation!
I just want to give my two thumbs up to Cyanogen. To say that the ROM’s are constantly changing it is always getting better. The ROM’s never feel beta to me. With that said people on here that post things like “jg” need to know their place and not be so rude to a FREE WIDLEY AVALIBLE source. And I know this is not the place to gripe I just had to point that out. Again though Cyanogen is AWESOME.
I was having lots of issues (FCs) and just plain SLOOOW load times, did factory resets, wipes, everything… It all boiled down to the 500MB ext 3 (even 500MB ext 4) partition I had on my class-4 8GB memory card. Once I did a clean install and started adding more and more apps / games the slower the phone was and the more force closes I got. I removed the ext partition on the last install. No force closes, no crashes, very responsive…
From what I could tell, too many system dependent apps were being moved to the sdcard, I had no control over what went where. Am I doing something wrong, did I miss a step? I would like to re-enable the ext and just put a few games there… How can I do this? I saved all the .apks, is there a way to install them on the fat32 partition? confused on this part.
How good is this cm5.0 suppose to run on the G1? With the Nexus having much better hardware.
I don’t want to come off as rude but…..IF YOU ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH YOUR PHONE, COMPLETELY REFLASH WITH A RECOVERY IMAGE AND THEN THE NEW CM-4.2.13. Most, if not all, of your problems will be fixed. And make sure you understand how to correctly reflash your phone before doing so!
Does anyone know how I can get my android market to work on 4.2.13… it keeps forclosing saying that an error in google.gapps has occured
for 32B, flash first DRC83_base_defanged.zip(md5sum: 081379e9b525484bcd1ee42bd0031a4c) and then without reboot your phone, flash update-cm-4.2.x-signed.zip finally reboot and try…
