postheadericon CyanogenMod-4.2.13

Another build in the “stable” series which should greatly improve stability. The services code should be backwards compatible so apps with persistent services should behave better. All-new multitouch code using the 2.0 API was added. Contacts app updated. Many other bugs fixed!

Thank you for all of the great work. I do however have an issue with the Telephone App: when on a call, and another call comes in, I have no way of disconnecting from 1st call. The phone stays “connected” even though no one is on the other side. There is nothing to do other than removing battery. I am downloading a task manager to try and “kill” App. Any thoughts?

I’m very new to cyanogen, and rooting my phone in general. This was my first upgrade, and everything was a mess. It was slow and I could dial a number. I figured I broke my phone forever. Then I did a wipe (restart and hold home key) and everything works great and is super fast thank you!
Oh, and next friday, is hawaiian shirt day. So if you want to, wear a hawaiian shirt and jeans

CM Updater does not seem to know this new version yet. It sais “no updates found” when running on 4.2.12.2

  • Ally Pally:

The new build is working great! I bricked my phone doing JF v1.51 CRB43 US (Cupcake) A2SD, but was able to restore to my previous backup point thanks to NANDROID. very useful. Very Fast, Very recommended. Donate :)

  • Eddie:

Broke #17 &18, Thanks for 17 and then following up with 18. It’s horrible when people say “It’s in the settings”. They need to change that menu to switch callers during incoming calls. The black list button is huge! I guess the designer gets a lot of unsolicited calls. lol

  • CM Updater (here in the UK) is not finding this new update for a couple of weeks now .. any help please?

  • Renn9420:

You have to go into cm updater hit menu then press configuration then press rom update settings and check Display all rom updates. that should work

  • amused:

    Hello,
sometime the 3G data connection gets lost and the microphone bug (AudioPara) is still there. The people can hardly understand me. Thanks in advance for fixing it…

  • Eddie:

G1 AmonRA 1.5.2 CM 4.2.13, Everything is working great now. Very strange, it was as if the program had to adjust to the new setting. Everything got better the more I used it. I’m using the Navigation everywhere and would like to get a GPS Bluetooth receiver. Wondering if anybody else is using one? Which one and how is it working? Cyanogen, could you tell Google we need to be able to download to SD the maps. Nokia just made theirs free and Android needs the market share.

  • stephen:

i want my pony and when a good pony comes out ill donate straight to cm and let the man keep working mt3g all the way

  • stephen:

hey i was wondering if the great people at xda and cyanogen could raise the volume higher on the mt3g sounds too weak

  • Dev:

I want to thank the people at Cyanogenmod for this update… i only just got my new phone and heard about this from a friend and i think its amazing… its one of the greatest things out there for phones… Thanks for all the hard work, effort, and time you put into making this update.

  • Eric:

This is really annoying…I luve the bulid but the only problem is…is that when i flashed i had my 3G network for about a day and then it just went away….like no edge or nothing shows up. Like now when i goto apply only 2g networks just the edge shows up….and then when i check it off the 3G shows up but then dosnt work when i go on the market or browser….like wtf and then it goes away forever…i seriously need a fix

  • ALI:

Luv dis ROm, unfortuanately im a rogers customer and any updates on how to get the data connection without unrootin

  • E:

bluetooth will not work on G1. I can answer using it, phone is connected and recognizes it but if I call out, I cant hear anyone through the earpiece. Also, when call is in dialing mode, green border turns blue, just no audio through the headset. Is anyone else having this problem or am I doing something wrong? Have 4.2.13 installed and everything is good…except bluetooth. Any suggestions?

  • JAY:

does tis new nexus rom mean the death of the g1 roms???

  • Ricky:

fastest rom ive used so far. great work.

wanted to mention that (known issue) that android.process.acore crashes on long press in contacts. but if you install (not using adb) the “fix” (Contacts.apk found on v4.2.13 changelog page) that android.process.acore fails upon pressing send on an outgoing call. anyone else have this issue?

  • Dips:

Can anyone help?? I have had problems with android.process.acore when i do anything. And since updating to CM …13 it takes a really long time to look at my call list. Any help wil be appreciated. Thanks

    #17

y’all might want to try this:

flash the 2.8 contacts.apk.zip from recovery mode BEFORE updating to CM 4.2.13…

i had the 2.8 on 4.2.12…i flashed the zip from recovery mode, then when i updated to CM 4.2.13, i never had these problems…coincidence? perhaps…but worth a try

like i said, i never had the problems with the contacts others reported, and thats the only thing i can say was different about my build

  • Al Meer:

I had 4.2.5 and it was smooth and fast, 4.2.13 is slow and can’t be used with my phone. I went back to 4.2.5.

  • Stephen:

Still having the contacts errors, cannot make any calls. have pushed Contacts.apk to system/app in every way i currently know how. Terminal does not seem to fix the issue when replacing the contacts.apk the long press issue goes away but now i cannot make calls whatsoever. ready to just bag cyanogen, any other fixes available? the fix for priviledged_call doesnt work on my mytouch3g because the console in recovery mode DOES NOT SUPPORT soft keyboard.

  • Ryan:

Hey – I’m a noob at this and looking to getting a little more performance out of my MyTouch (32b).

I noticed the wiki says “Data plan required.” Does this really mean I need a data plan to root my phone? I don’t have a data plan and am running the phone on AT&T. If I use the AT&T APN settings, will this let me go around having a data plan during the initial setup of the new ROM?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Stephen:

Okay so i was a little hastey.

For all you MyTouch3G users out there. here is how i got the new cyanogen mod plus the fixed contacts.apk working Smoothly with no force close errors. (THIS REQUIRES A FACTORY WIPE)

DO NOT INSTALL THE CONTACTS.APK with your file browser or the package installer. after doing so, no amount of terminal could help with the force close issue, even when i verified that the contacts.apk was correctly in place in the system app folder.

If you have done this, you will need to reinstall cyanogen 4.2.13 completely. (it only takes an hour or two to get all your settings and apps back)

Make sure you have used flashrec to update your recovery to cyanogen 1.4

    Prepare an SD card.

Download the google apps zip and place on root of sd card
Zip can be found here : http://dx.infernix.net/DRC83_base_defanged.zip

    Download cyanogens latest build (4.2.13)
Zip can be found here :
    http://n0rp.chemlab.org/android/update-cm-4.2.13-signed.zip

Download the fixed wysie 2.8 contacts zip
Zip can be found here :
    http://www.mediafire.com/file/jnzlit22zzd/Contacts_wysie_2.8_update_signed.zip

Place all three zips on the root of your sd card.

    Reboot in recovery mode.

Factory Reset/Wipe data on your phone using recovery

in order choose the flash any zip from sd card option and

    1 – DRC83_base_defanged.zip
    wait until finished and then
    2 – update-cm-4.2.13-signed.zip
    wait until finished and then
    3 – Contacts_wysie_2.8_update_signed.zip

Now you may say “why not just flash the contacts zip and skip the other steps?”

Because it didnt work for me.

Feel free to try though. maybe my handset was also experiencing issues from apps installed (highly doubted).

I believe if you havent downloaded the Contacts.apk from the changelog that if you just follow the steps to run recovery and flash the contacts zip file without wipe/cm-update it should just install directly to the correct system/app folder and upon reboot you should be good to go.

my phone is now running twice as fast. Thanks Cyanogen.

    Where do i donate?

  • mkvrabbit:

i have been reading the forums and either im blind or just can’t find it, but is there anything on how to make the rotation move smoother or faster? i can count several seconds before it refreshes. This is how it has always been so im not blaming this on cyanogen just curious if there is a way to improve this.

  • tom p:

    #23-
i think so but as soon as you boot it up the first time, there will probably be problems, no google sync or setup, etc…i dont know, why dont you try it and let us know………..

  • #14 @Eric did you ever find a solution to your problem…? I think i’m having a similar I’ll have 3G all day (at least what i notice) than i go to use the net and I’ll get maybe 1 page loaded and 3G / All internet dies… I’ve tried dialing out and in and it works just find sending SMS works but NO!!! internet, sync is out, email, browsers, any app that requires data is dead.

If someone has an idea please!!! let me know its starting to really annoy me and this is by far the fastest release! *shout out for Cyanogen. But fast and no net is enough to push me back to the previous build :(

Thank you in advance for any help!

  • serranus:

this rom it’s very slow…. bag!!

  • dennis:

Since installing .13, my Google Ion (MT3G) has slowed w a y down… The home screen takes 15-30 seconds to refresh after “exiting” another app. Answering calls sometimes takes so long that the caller hangs up.

Haven’t had this problem until this version. Otherwise a great build!

  • John Ring:

I love Cyanogenmod but this rom seems incredbly slow i think its may be because im yousing apps2Sd on a slow card does anyone konw if this could be the promble because it takes like 20 to 30 secounds to open the dialer

  • jeremy:

I finally rooted and flashed this rom today. so far its great. i dont know compared to the other roms though. Root is freakin awesome though! I look forward to more roms! Thanx Modders!

  • Jag:

If anyone is with Rogers, it could be that your 3g isn’t working because they disconnected everyone unless you update your firmware (due to 911 issue).

  • stephen:

fawk man u guys complain like little if u got a problem i had all those and above wat i did is just reflash the same rom over again no wipe push apk to system app using better terminal stock sux balls man and reboot and when its settle reboot again damn my phone is hella fast contacts open like 1 second program maybe 2-3 reboot gets better every time i reboot

  • stephen:

complain complain when he stop making roms then what !!!!!!! cry u guys dont deserve this rom if you dont know what the hell u doing damn man ignorant people blame urself for not reading instructions

  • angel:

Can some one help I’m rooting my phone today. Cyanogen is this the rom
    Update-cm-4.2.13-singed. I have a 1.6 build

  • pelo88:

For everyone having speed or dialer issues, try reformatting/repartitioning your sd card, wiping and flashing the defanged base this update and the radio (in that order) and rebooting. Use amon ra’s recovery to make life easier. Then update the dialer or contact apk as cyanogen suggested to fix the long press on a contact fc issue.

  • Kenny:

Hey i have 4.2.13 working fine on my g1 and was thinking about putting the Green Hero Eclair 2.4b theme on. My problem is i like everything but the beautiful widgets. I cant change it back to the normal one because it is a part of the system now. An error pops up denying access to uninstall it. Any ideas on how to revert just that part back? I was thinking maybe using term and pushing it with a #mount code like i had to with Maps awhile back. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

  • turk:

I just had the problem with not being able to make outbound calls, i had the contacts.apk install and it was working, then decided to stop. I removed it, and I am now able to make outbound calls again. I can live with the long press bug for now to make phone calls.

  • Eric:

@ Craig M: no i havnt found a solution to my problem by mynetwork seems to be progressing. When im home the icon dissappears and i have to put it on only 2g networks for at least a connection to edge. But when im out i have great 3g…and downgrading the rom wont help….because now im starting to think this isnt a problem with cyanogen…maybe its the device or t-mobile

  • KILROY:

    Thank you! you the best!
    with love from Russia ))

  • sgmathews:

Uh, STEPHEN (and others) – I agree folks should stop whining and be grateful – and most are – but I also know we’d all appreciate it a lot more courtesy and a LOT less vulgar profanity in your posts. You are meant for better than that! Take a step up.

  • Ryan:

    @23 & @25

Yup. You need a data plan of some sorts because when you downgrade to the 1.5 (before installing ‘App Installer’) you still need to activate the phone by logging in like any old user. Apparently you can hack it by changing what settings show up during the activation process by installing the sdk and blah blah… Much easier to just use someone else’s SIM with a data plan, at least just for the activation.

  • Pelo88:

It’s not hard to activate without a data plan, you just need wifi. Follow this guide linked from the Wiki on this very site:
    http://modmygphone.com/forums/showpost.php?p=51891&postcount=12|

  • Ryan:

Finally finished the rooting process. I’m a fan of the custom ROM! The keyboard is what really stands out – it’s incredibly fast.

    Thanks!

  • Ryan:

    Calendar widgets aren’t working

  • dat:

I just updated from. 4.2.12 to 4.2.13 and now the phone is stuck at the android loading screen, any suggestion?

  • Jammyz:

arite.. just flashing now.. little worried, about the comments.. should i really be? lol… I’ll report back in a few mins

  • Jammyz:

still have yet to find anything wrong with this.. Thanks Cyanogen :D

  • dubski:

Once again, excellent work. Thanks. works great, didn’t have to wipe or anything. Just updated using CM updater. ;-)

  • Negroblanco:

    @sgmathews:

“I agree folks should stop whining and be grateful – and most are…”

I don’t think everyone is whining. Some are just trying to get help, or voicing their concerns. It seems to me that some people can’t read (ha!), or are too lazy to find an answer on their own.

That said, I have tried a quite a few ROMs for my Dream/G1 (I was on the pre-order list for this phone, so I am not new this), and this version is giving me the blues. I have tried everything to get this working.

This may seem odd to some, but the only way I could get 4.2.13 to work was to start from scratch, but flash 4.2.5 first, then wipe/update to 4.2.13. Without doing that (after 3 attempts) the phone was unusable. Also, I had to let it “settle in” for a several days for it not black screen, lockup, kernel panic, etc. all the time.

I want to add that what irks me about some of the comments I read here, is that nobody is forcing you to use this ROM. If you don’t want to actively help make it better, flash the stock ROM, or make your own! *grin*
