Made an overdue donation. Great ROM as ever, thanks for keeping it alive!

  2. #2 by Abel on February 5, 2010 - 4:04 pm

I love this build. And I’m glad your building nexus one roms as well. I didnt want to get a new phone until you approved one for the next gen of cyanogen. Thanks for making the tough choice of choosing a new phone for us. Were all behind you man. thanks

  3. #3 by Charles on February 5, 2010 - 4:35 pm

I should have read these comments … I have applied the upgrade quickly at work yesterday, and this morning i end up waking up late for work.

No biggy i still prefer your roms.

    Hey all,
    Here’s the issue’s I had with this build :
    1. Force close (everytime) on super user while using blutooth ftp it would force close after alowing bluetooth : bluetooth
    2. Alarm clock no longer works with old flip-clock style Beautiful Widgets. The new look sucks ;-) I thought maybe one of the eclair themes on the updater might fix this because Beautiful Widgets is a system app and might be fixed to go to the eclair Deskclock.apk but I never tried.
    3. Touch-screen acting screwy. Anything I drag my finger across is selected.
    4. What happed to the desktop view option on the browser?
    Anyone else having these issues?

    Black G1
    Hard SPL
    Amon-RA-v1.52 recovery
    8gb class 6 micro sd
    1gb ext4
    64mb swap

  5. #5 by Theo on February 5, 2010 - 5:59 pm

On my G1 where is all my memory going?. On a fresh rom install I start with 73mb of internal memory, then after installing all my apps I’m down to 53 (and used up 120mb on my ext3). What is getting stored in the internal memory?

still no problems with this build. Not sure what what others are experiencing. Still have my alarm clock and everything. I LOVE IT!!!!

  7. #7 by cysco24 on February 5, 2010 - 7:01 pm

This is the best version i’ve had on this phone. .13 was giving me many problems.
I did a clean install from stock. Had to wipe before flashing rom or I would get a black screen after cyanogen loading screen.
Applied 10mb ram hack, and reformated my microsd card. This rom flies now!
I always hear people saying that these roms are fast etc… but this is the first time I can really see a huge difference. Thanks for your work, I can now wait paitiently till you get out more goodies for the g1.

Market was crashing for me. First two steps from here fixed it http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/Problems_after_reinstall#Market_Broken

  9. #9 by JG01 on February 6, 2010 - 3:11 am

upgraded to this version about four days ago. So far seen power drain, phone reboot by itself, 3g connection issues. I which Cyanogen turn off all those background processes that are not really needed…I do use IM or Gmail…Cyanogen Please allow the ability to turn off these services if they are not used. One more thing, can you write a sync software that allows me to sync my contacts and calendar from my PC, instead of Google….please, this is big one ! The HTC phone have this if you purchase one that is unlocked.

  10. #10 by JG01 on February 6, 2010 - 3:11 am

    Sorry , phone is mytouch 3G (32b)

  11. #11 by kenny on February 6, 2010 - 6:47 am

    @lino
yeah I had that problem too! I tried to uninstall amazon mp3 but it apears to be a system app in .14 :-( any ideas how to fix that? I had a couple other issues so I went back to .9 I think I may upgrade to .13 I don’t remeber having issues with that one. I don’t like the new browser though.

  12. #12 by mike on February 6, 2010 - 7:31 am

The themes SUCK. Are they ever gonna put more in the updater? I miss the old green hero eclair. the new one is boring. it might be 2.5A but it says M5S or something file is missing so I have to use 2.5b? anyone kno what the hell im talkin about?

  13. #13 by jusincase on February 6, 2010 - 8:24 am

At first I had issues with this build but then I used Amon-RA-v1.52 recovery to reformat and re-partition my sd card and made sure I also did the upgrade from ext2 to ext3 and then ext3 to ext 4. Then I went to and I followed the wiki instructions to flash the defanged rom, then this build, then the next rom and now I have to say this build rocks. Fast and Stable with zero issues.
    Black G1

    Amon-RA-v1.52 recovery

  14. #14 by Dar Devy on February 6, 2010 - 9:29 am

    @jusincase
What did you mean by… “then this build, then the next rom…”. What “next” rom were you referring to? Just curious. Thanks,

  15. #15 by brazzuca on February 6, 2010 - 9:55 am

If you can’t wait for using Eclair on your G1/Magic, try OpenEclair: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=624545

Works perfect on my htc magic since 2 weeks now.

  16. #16 by Kenny on February 6, 2010 - 6:02 pm

    @Mike
Yeah I had the same issue with md5 sum either missing or being incorrect. I think you can still flash from recovery if its missing. the prob I had is it would redownload from each mirror giving me the same error until it went though all the servers then it would tell me it couldn’t download from any mirror (using the cm updater) that’s sound familiar

  17. #17 by TMO Tech on February 6, 2010 - 11:32 pm

Anyone having the issue of the screen not responding to touch when charging with USB cord? I usually charge my G1 with the USB cable off my computer and have noticed the touch screen stops responding when I do that.

  18. #18 by stephen m on February 7, 2010 - 1:17 am

this rom is indeed faster but i used to get 35-37 mb of ram now i get 25-30 i was like wtf multi touch is alot slower man it was perfect in 13 apps2sd seem sluglish now idk maybe its my sd card but idk why amazon and other apps i dont even use comes up please cm take off those apps that are not needed then phone will work even better make two roms one with all and one with nothing lol

  19. #19 by jusincase on February 7, 2010 - 1:35 am

    Dar Devy
After using Amon-RA-v1.52 recovery to reformat and re-partition my sd card and made sure I also did the upgrade from ext2 to ext3 and then ext3 to ext 4. I flashed
    1) DRC83_base_defanged
    2) ota-radio-2_22_19_26I
    3) update-cm-4.2.14.1-signed

I flashed them in that order without rebooting. Downloaded from wiki here, http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/Full_Update_Guide_-_G1/Dream_Firmware_to_CyanogenMod

Followed instructions for File Download and Flash Android1.6 & CyanogenMod latest

  20. #20 by jusincase on February 7, 2010 - 1:37 am

    Sorry wrong order!!!
    1)DRC83_base_defanged
    2)update-cm-4.2.14.1-signed
    3)ota-radio-2_22_19_26I

  21. #21 by jsmit08 on February 7, 2010 - 4:33 am

After running this update I lost the alarm clock app and the videos app. how do I get them back?

  22. #22 by mario on February 7, 2010 - 10:12 am

    @ DancingWombat

i have a g1 was on cm4.2.13 and updated to 4.2.14.1. now only startup scrren comes up. i tries several times to take out the battery and put it back and holding down the home+power buttons or camers+power buttons. nothing happens :(

  23. #23 by jusincase on February 7, 2010 - 10:45 am

I think anyone with a G1 needs to flash Amon-RA-v1.52 recovery, then reformat their sd class 6 card and make sure they also do the upgrade from ext2 to ext3 and then ext3 to ext 4. then download, put on their sd card and flash without rebooting in this order…
    1)DRC83_base_defanged
    2)update-cm-4.2.14.1-signed
    3)ota-radio-2_22_19_26I
All of the instructions can be found on the wiki instructions site if you search.

  24. #24 by jusincase on February 7, 2010 - 10:47 am

BTW this has already been talked about but I’ll say it again, the alarm clock app is now simply a clock app and their is a new music player.

  25. #25 by Keasbeychay on February 7, 2010 - 12:40 pm

I honestly think that those having problems with this update is caused by user error, or not following instructions. If you have any doubt in the least bit what you are doing refer to the instructions on the wiki, I mean it doesn’t get any more black and white than that, works perfect on my MT3G. To critisize and complain about the work of the publisher that you had no hand in is pretty unappreciative, I mean there’s a lot of effort put into these by the publisher. If you think you can create a better mod then by all means go for it but to put someone on blast and just say negative things? Lets think be fore we post thank you, please.

  26. #26 by Kenny on February 7, 2010 - 11:45 pm

Ok so I did a wipe and then a clean install to .14 and it seems to be working I am missing navigation in google maps. How do i access it? This is on a g1

i have a G2 Vodafone Magic was on cm4.2.13 and updated to 4.2.14.1

the battery began to sit down very quickly (about 12 hours) =((

  31. #31 by Mumm-ra on February 8, 2010 - 11:28 am

I have been running the ROM since the day it was released, I have not had any issues, it is a lot less buggy than for me than the previous ROM.
I have not had any of the issues, most common one seems to be the alarm clock but it also works fine for me.

    Thanks again Cyanogen

  34. #34 by Magick on February 9, 2010 - 12:57 am

I am having problems with sms. It will randomly pick a message i sent previously, and decides to resend it. Also, on several people it is claiming I have a draft saved, but I really dont.

    - apply bc-4.2.14.1-ebi1-signed
    restart ..

    Any clue ?

  39. #39 by 500WON on February 9, 2010 - 12:33 pm

I need step by step instructions on how to fix market. It keeps fc. I am android newb.

    Thank You

  40. #40 by jman on February 9, 2010 - 4:16 pm

brilliant rom. works great no problems. i cant wait for cyanogen to implement the processor hack! :)

  41. #42 by Bocaj on February 9, 2010 - 6:50 pm

I had issues and as people suggest wipe and reset (I also deleted my app2sd folders from my sd card) and then flash:

    1)DRC83_base_defanged
    2)update-cm-4.2.14.1-signed
    3)ota-radio-2_22_19_26I
NO REBOOT IN BETWEEN just flash them all in order and reboot.

Running smooth now. You can’t expect to update, update, update and not get a few ghosts in the machine. Every now and then you need to start with a clean slate. Flashing the DRC83_base_defanged rom before the CM mod is as clean as it gets.

  42. #43 by angel on February 9, 2010 - 6:52 pm

I’m rooting my g1 1.6 I put the.nbh file its downgraded to rc29 now I’m trying the cyanogen recovery 1.4 image it wont work what am I doing wrong

  43. #44 by chris on February 9, 2010 - 9:58 pm

@angel, did you have root access?

even if you go down to rc29, if you don’t do the telnetd steps, you won’t have root access. Hence, you won’t be able to change the recovery…

Type su in a terminal, like download one off the market, there’s a free one its called Terminal Emulator. If you don’t see # after su, you don’t have root.

  44. #45 by cody on February 10, 2010 - 1:06 am

Great rom but market keeps force closing. Can’t dl anything or install. Anyone else have this issue or know how to fix.

never missed every version, as what you said a lot of improvement have been made.
Very FAST and have combination with Enoch Theme will made eye catching and superb phone.

Thankyou, Terimakasih Banyak ( :: in Indonesia Lang.)

  47. #48 by phiredrop on February 10, 2010 - 7:37 am

After having this ROM for a week or so, it started getting slow and force closing the home a whole bunch. Then I applied the 10MB hack and WOW! The difference is incredible. Very fast and works just great (MT32b).

I definitely recommend everyone applying it. Just check youtube for directions how.

  48. #49 by Negroblanco on February 10, 2010 - 8:04 am

This ROM has me back in the game! Thanks,

4.2.13 was actually unusable for me. I tried everything and I could not get it working (and I have been using this ROM since July of 09).
