  • Dar Devy:

    Thx Jusincase,

the rom is fast and all but I think I installed too many apps that it interfere with the the “slidecreen” loading up and I also could not get the “magic pond” to load as well. How large could I make my ext4 partition? What is the maximum possible? What is the reasonable swap size for an 8gb class 4 micro sdcard? If I were to flash the open eclair build, would I be able to flash back to cyanogen afterward? Thx for any reply that would help :)

  • scottie:

Awesome fast rom. I found the following bug however

*when trying to delete recent call (a single call) by long press…it repeats “delete 555-567-8373″ twice.

  • issinoho:

Does anyone (Cy?) know if/when the first 2.x release will be? I only ask as Buzz looks like the first major release from Google which won’t run on 1.x

  • iTdee:

I have the problem that everytime i unlock the phone the screen is black and then the desktop restarts… Does anybody know something about this issue?

  • slowjazz:

    Issinoho,

You can still use/get Buzz on your Android phone.
Update to 4.0 of Maps. (in market as of this morning)
The update should be out soon. I saw/heard that htc will update the Hero in mid March. Mytouch3g was just announced on T-mo with the ‘new’ 3.5mm jack and 8 gig card. T-mo is suposed to update to 2.1 also.

  • Kenny:

This rom is pretty awesome and the new beautiful widgets version fixed any problems i had with not being able to set my alarm from the home screen. oh yeah next person i hear call there mytouch (magic) a g2 i’m gonna slap.

  • size:

great mod! since .13 multitouch is broken for apps like musical pro or toonwarz! please look into it!

  • pingspike:

I got an error updating my g1 to maps 4.0. So maybe there’s a problem with maps or cyans mod ? Could be something as simple as a version conflict. I hope.

  • androidawg:

    @pingspike
Just uninstall maps and then re-install it. I’ve had to do that before and everything works fine after that.

  • slowjazz:

Silly question.. but how do we ‘mod’ users get the ota update from t-mobile? (for mt3g people only)
This radio -2.22.23.02 and build number – DMD 64
Were sent out from t-mo to fix call quality and some other things.

  • stugator:

I’ve had a problem not being able to use 3g with 4.2.14. When 3g is active (ie 3g icon showing) data and voice do not work. Voice and data only work when I set the G1 to use 2g only.

I can’t be sure if this is a software or hardware problem. I suppose it is possible the 3g radio died. Has this ever happened to any of you?

I plan on doing a wipe an reverting to older cyanogen or maybe stock.

  • stugator:

Amazing right when I post this. 3g and voice work. Isn’t that how it always is. Maybe it was all just a coincidence and TMobile was messing with the cell towers.

  • heyho:

Since .14 I have a problem with 3G connections. The 3G icon is active, but it looks like the phone does not get an answer from the network when sending a request and the request is timed out.
This does not happen all the time and once it received an answer, everything works as usual for a while.
    2G always works.

  • Dar:

    Hello,
I have questions on partitioning my 8gb class 4 micro sdcard. What is the maximum possible size for the ext4 and linux-swap partition could I use? I have the Amon_Ra Recovery Image that will help with the formatting and partitioning. I just am not sure what is the maximum size of linux-swap and ext4 partition should I use to get the most for apps2sd and still have the phone running smoothly enough. Thanks for any pointers,

  • Frank:

If I update to .14 do I have to redo the 10mb hack???

  • tom p:

    Frank:

    yes

  • Chris:

Do I have to do a clean wipe or can I just do an upgrade?

    Thank You

  • Thanks you have shared it with us. It’s downloading and after completion of it I am gonna upgrade to it. :-)

  • Broke:

Chris, you can just do an update which is what I did and do the majority of the time. CM updater works just fine and fast if I have 3g. If I’m feeling impatient I just get it at xda and download via PC, then Amon Ra it.

But, if you start to have issues that most likely indicate left over crud, you wipe.

MyBackup Pro app has made wiping a little less painful for me. Some folks want you to wipe all the time to prevent probs. However, I do not have enough (or any) probs to warrant a full redo every other week or so.

  • Brent:

Anyone having issues with GOOGLE VOICE on 4.2.14.1 – I can’t seem to get it to work (and once you go GOOGLE VOICE, there is no return). I have reflashed and even wiped/reflashed.

On the positive side 4.2.14.1 seems super fast (or could’ve been the wipe).

  • Andrew:

Upgraded from .13 to .14 and lost my market app. Did a wipe and reflash, still no market app and I lost my backup app. Any suggestions? Didn’t experience any of the issues I saw on this thread. Working on a G1

  • Emidio Picariello:

I’m looking for themes. Why themes page doesn’t work?
    Thank you

  • Rich:

    Hi there!
My battery drained fully in 12 hours of standby (overnight) whereas it used to last ~2 days of irregular phone use (no apps).
My wifi now seems to stay connected while I’m in standby mode, whereas it used to disconnect after a short while, and I suspect that may be the culprit.
Is there any way to restore the “disable wifi while in standby” function?

  • sgmathews:

Can’t flashCyanogen! Help! Gave OpenEclair a whirl to see what buzz is about and now want to come home. Wiped everything (factory reset, dalvik and ext) and flashed zip. Hung on G1 logo. Repeated with same results. Now what? Should I reflash radio, SPL, reformat SD?

  • gst:

After upgrading my G1 was quite slow. So I tried to wipe and reinstall according to the instructions in the Wiki.

The first boot works fine, but on subsequent boots the ROM hangs in the following bootloop:

    D/AndroidRuntime( 121): — registering native functions —
    W/dalvikvm( 121): VFY: bad register counts (ins=29453 regs=115)
    W/dalvikvm( 121): VFY: rejected Landroid/util/EventLog$List;. ([Ljava/lang/Object;)V
    W/dalvikvm( 121): Verifier rejected class Landroid/util/EventLog$List;
    E/ ( 121): Can’t find field: mItems
E/AndroidRuntime( 121): Unable to register all android natives
    D/AndroidRuntime( 142):
    D/AndroidRuntime( 142): >>>>>>>>>>>>>> AndroidRuntime START <<<<<<<<<<<<<<
    D/AndroidRuntime( 142): CheckJNI is OFF
    D/AndroidRuntime( 142): — registering native functions —
    W/dalvikvm( 142): VFY: bad register counts (ins=29453 regs=115)

Any idea how to fix this? I've tried reinstalling multiple times, but always the same problem.

  • Andrew:

    Update from before:
I wiped and returned to my last nandroid backup, about .8 or so. Upgraded back to .13. Then to .14. I now have the market back. Best situation out of this, I now have a game I lost a while back. All in all, very pleased with .14

  • DancingWombat:

@Brent: You have to uninstall and re-install Google Voice. Happens to me every time I wipe the phone. Your messages are still on your GV account, so nothing is lost.

  • Broke:

Sgmathews did you reinstall Defanged base before Cyan rom?

  • Lucho:

    My G1 is on .9
My phone started freezing up randomly.
Can I just install .14 with the CM updater or do I have to apply .10, .11, .12 and .13?

Would be better to wipe because of is freezing up?

    Thanks for any input

  • Kenny:

    @Lucho
i tried an upgrade on my g1 from .9 and got some unwanted results. Various things like my touch screen going haywire and the phone being extremely slow. I did a wipe and then installed following the instructions:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/Full_Update_Guide_-_G1/Dream_Firmware_to_CyanogenMod i used the download from HTC signed-dream_devphone_userdebug-ota-14721.zip not the Defanged’ DRC83. I dont know which is better but you have and extra step with Defanged’ DRC83 (install the new radio). I see a lot of people using the Defanged’ DRC83 though so thats up to you. Also the Amon_RA_recovery-1.52 is a must.

Whats the verdict Defanged’ DRC83 or signed-dream_devphone_userdebug-ota-14721.zip? which is better?

  • Broke:

Lucho, you’re “supposed’ to be able apply to any. I have been able to go forward and backward with no problems at all.

.9 is supposed to be one of the better Roms to jump from but…

If I were you though and I was already having freeze, I’d wipe. But, are you pretty sure you didn’t install or modify anything to cause this freeze?

I always find my issues to be caused by something…like Overclock widget for instance. I’ve stop trying to improve on an already great thing. Now, my phone runs flawlessly every time.

  • I love it anytime we get a new release. Thanks! I just do have one question, do we have to have the full Eclair build to get the new contacts app that lets you pick a contact, then select facebook, email, phone, etc?

  • sgmathews:

Thanks, Broke. I didn’t think about that. DUH! Remembered a nandroid I’d set aside and restored from there. I’m back to stable. OpenEclair is very nice, but not quite ready for day-to-day yet. I appreciate what all the developers are doing to keep moving forward.

  • aaron:

Just saw an article about “Dalvik Turbo”. Will this be making it into your roms? It sounds cool, claims up to 3 times faster and better battery life.
I couldn’t imagine my g1 at 3x speed. With 14.1 it seems 3 times faster than stock already.

    Great work CY.

  • Rosemary:

I rooted my G1 to 4.2.14 yesterday and lost 4 hours of sleep because I just couldn’t put it down LOL!. I have a question, after I completed root and started my G1 up, I noticed that I only have 35MB left AFTER ROOTING. I thought I was suppose to get more memory space not lose them. Can someone please tell me how I can fix that? I have already tried factory restore and nothing happened.

  • sgmathews:

I reinstalled from a nandroid, but it was quirky. So, I reinstalled radio, danger SPL, defanged base, CM 4.2.14.1 and kernel for 4.2.14.1. Would you believe the stupid thing will STILL not boot????? Stuck at the G1 logo for 10 minutes now. Arrrrggghhhh!

  • Broke:

sgmathews, I’m stumped on this one. Sorry :(

Apply Defanged, do not reboot. Apply CM. Reboot.

Nonetheless, I’m not sure why you’re fiddling with the radio and spl right now. If this doesn’t work. Try completely wiped slate. EVERYTHING. Reformat too. Then Defanged (Wiki version, it matters) and CM Rom only. Best of luck!

  • sgmathews:

    Thanks, Broke. I’m stumped too.

I think I’m about out of luck. I reformatted SD just a few days ago (fat32/ext4/linux-swap) so I didn’t do that again. But I did do system wipe, dalvik wipe, ext wipe before I started installing. I did the radio and rebooted, SPL and rebooted, then defanged base, CM rom and matching kernel and rebooted. No luck – G1 nightlight. I back to running from my nandroid backup. I was able to unpair/re-pair bluetooth, delete/re-add email accounts and reinstall software and took care of most of the quirks. I guess I’m stuck this way. It’s funny. I flashed KingxKxlicks 2.1 and OpenEclair 2.1 this week with no problems. They just were not as solid as Cyanogen.

  • sgmathews:

Oh…and I downloaded all the files from the wiki. Looking at the issue log, it seems others are having the same problem. It was suggested to restart without the SD card in place. I may try it over the weekend. Tired of installing right now.

  • Raziel:

    Hi everybody

I just finished root my Rogers Dream and and install the 4.2.14.1 CM guidelines:

Quote:You should be in the recovery, so select “Flash zip from sdcard”
Select update-cm-4.2.x.zip and press Home to confirm
When it finishes, select bc-4.2.x-ebi1.zip and press Home to confirm
You can now go back to the main menu then reboot your phone into your new CyanogenMod install. It might stay on the Rogers and/or Android logo a little longer than usual the first time, this is normal. It will stay there a long time. The next time you reboot it will be back to normal. When finished you should be greeted with a functional CyanogenMod home screen.

    Link download :

    Current Stable Version : http_://n0rp.chemlab.org/android/update-cm-4.2.14.1-signed.zip
    Current EBI1/32A kernel : http_://briancrook.ca/magic/cm-ports/bc-4.2.14.1-ebi1-signed.zip

But after the flash, my Dream rebooted and hung at the Rogers logo. I tried many times but still so. Please just help me what to do next. Thank

  • Andrew:

Great build, thanks a lot! Upgraded to this build on my G1 and it now runs better and the battery last longer. You are a miracle worker :-)

  • Dar Devy:

    Hi all,
Could someone tell me? What is the MAXIMUM possible size for the ext4 partition for the App2sd? I have an 8gb micro sd card. What is the right size for swap?
    Thanks,

  • ycronoy:

    Hi Folks,

There will be more in the future updates for the htc magic yet?

Excuse my English skills are unfortunately very bad.

    Ycronoy

    german:
    Hallo Leute,

wird es in Zukunft noch mehr Updates für das htc magic noch geben?

Entschuldigung leider sind meine englisch Kenntnisse sehr schlecht.

  • ashter:

Cyanogen is definatly focusing mostly on the N1 rom now….I guess our rom is boring or something. So many people count on this rom, now we’re kind of screwed..

  • pelo88:

He’ll get to updating this too. We ain’t screwed, come off it.

As for how to partition just use amon ra’s recovery and let it partition for you, but I for one use 96mb swap the recommended 512mb ext4 and the rest of my 8gb as fat.

  • Dar Devy:

    Hi pelo88,

I cannot go higher than 512mb for ext4? I like to install a lot of apps. I don’t think 512mb will be enough. I would like to know what is the highest possible size for ext4 that I could use. For example, could I make my ext4 partition to be 3gb?

    Thanks

  • Patrick:

    @Dar Devy,

the max size for ext4 is 1 Exabyte, that means 1000*1000*1000 gigabyte :P

So yeah, 3gb should be no problem for ext4 :P

  • Dar Devy:

    Thanks Patrick,

What about the swap partition for the 3gb ext4 partition. What is the size of swap should I use? Do I need to have a swap partition?

    Thanks,

  • Dominique:

Im currently using this build & for some reason i cant stop the notifications from the stock messaging app & use my handcent notifications stand alone. Is there a way around this if any one could help that would be great. Kind of new to this but catching very quickly.

  • Guticb:

    Dominique:

Open the stock messaging app, press menu and go to settings. There, you can disable all notifications from it. =]
