Here’s another tiny release that fixes a few irritating bug. The issue with the home icons disappearing sometimes has FINALLY been fixed. A big thanks to Zinx for finding this. FLAC audio is working again, and the new Google Voice app is working (there is no conspiracy, just a mistake in my build.prop).

A TON of reviews of the latest Google Voice app complain it’s not working anymore. I guess a lot of people use your ROM.

Seamless flash of the new ROM. I had to uninstall/reinstall the Google Voice application, but now everything is running smooth. Thanks again!

The application Touch Input (process com.htc.android.htcime) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
This happened with 4.2.1 and still with 4.2.2. I hope this gets fixed soon, as the on screen keyboard is unusable!

How do I manually install the normal on screen android keyboard (not the htc one)? It disappeared when I updated to 4.1.999 and it’s not come back since despite updating to every version since then…

Also.. it’d be nice if the updater were fixed. Is there a different server to set it to for it to pull these 4.2x updates?

Scratch that, I just had to reset the update server.

You need to uninstall the IME and reinstall the new version that is included in Cyanogen’s post.

AWESOME, that was a quick update. Thanks Cyanogen for such a great ROM. I thought JF was good, but your ROM blows its doors off. I just cant believe how much faster your ROM is, and theres alot less force close’s. Thanks again for all your GREAT work. I love my G1 again. The update from 4.2.1to 4.2.2 was painless, I just ran the update from any zip from the recovery screen and GV is working again.

Great work but my Google apps have stopped working…
A few days ago I flashed 4.2.1 on top of 4.1.9999, but then the phone hang on the first green Android logo “forever” (at least 1.5 hours then I rebooted with GreePhone-Menu-RedPhone). I tried to flash back to 4.1.9999 but still had the same problem.
So I “went back” to flashing the HTC 1.6 image and then flashing 4.2.1 again. Now everything seems to work, except the google applications. Gmail, Market and Calendar just crashes without any warning or notification. If I do a “wipe all” and re-enter my google credentials they work fine, but as soon as I restore my latest nandroid backup they stop working.
Does anyone have an idea on how to solve this without having to do a “wipe all” and loose all my other settings as well?
I’ve tried to clear data in all google applications in the “Manage applications” list in Settings but that doesn’t seem to work…
Thanks in advance!

Hey, I just wanted to report some bugs in 4.2.2 on the G1 – thanks for all your great work!
1. Unpredictable freezes – battery pull required to reboot.
2. Gmail fails to sync properly. A reboot fixed this issue on my phone, but not on my husband’s phone.

Hi!
I have a question for you guys that probably installs new ROM-files every now and then. How do you restore all your installed applications, settings, home screens etc as smoothly as possible? I find reinstalling all applications as biggest issue since I need to confirm each and every application restored with MyBackup for instance. Is there a way to get around the confirming?

#25 by Evan on October 28, 2009 - 7:23 pm
@Henrik – Are you running an EXT4 partition on your flash card?
@Bjorn – Unless doing a major upgrade, I just install right over top of the old ROM. Unless you wipe, all your applications, settings, etc will still be there.

HTC Magic 32B VodaUK. Been running 4.2.0 and 4.2.1 as they came out no probs. Installed these two manually. Used CM Updater 4.5 to put 4.2.2 on. Was this wrong thing to do? In last hour it has rebooted whilst using NewsRob – twice. Also lost all home screen icons/widgets once. Loss of icons coincided with replacing a widget that appeared to have stopped working. Any funnily the only icon visible was the one new widget. Reboot they reappear.

I’m curious to how 4.2.1/4.2.2 is a [stable] CM ROM when people are listing countless errors, all ranging from low to high problems, such as key problems, sounds, market not loading, stuck on home screens, laggs, compatibility, alarm clock, camera & gallery, if basic functions are not working properly how do you consider it a [stable] ROM? People are following steps, wiping, once, twice, three times, & still following directions but the outcome is still there are problems. Too quick to jump the gun? Not saying your work isn’t great cyanogen but I don’t think it’s quite near a stable ROM from 4.1.99-4.2.2 there have been various problems. I think i’m sticking with a true stable CM 4.0.4 ROM for a while till a more stable & reliable ROM is released. As far as anything else GREAT WORK! I hope to see an updated 2.0 eclair ROM.

By far Cyanogen has been the best. Going from JF 1.5 to Cyanogen 4.1.9 to 4.2 -4.2.2 was fun for me to do.
For those of you having issues please remember to whipe before & after installing Cyanogen ROM.
As for not having 3g after Cyanogen- give your provider a call. T-mobile told me that after updating your phones software their data base has to update what phone your using. It’s rare but happens. They’ll reset your data plan and you’ll be working again.
The community support is awesome!!! The same DAY issues were found they were fixed and CM Updater took care of the rest.
Cyanogen runs milky smooth!
Cyanogen? Steve(i think thats your name)… Your the Android Jedi! Thank you!

@Evan: OK, thanks anyway. Actually it helped just doing a “wipe all” in recovery mode. All apps still in place and working, but I had to set all my custom settings once again… now everything seems to work as it should!

Cyanogen, how’s this for an obscure bug: Thomas Riley’s Text To Speech Toy doesn’t seem to work. When I load the application, it appears to start the Market.INTENT and the text is not converted to speech when I hit the button. Certainly not critical.

This is really great.
All the people that r complaining abojut errors or say this is not worth to be labelled stsble: please use a normal google rom . Using a mod like this is risky, even when its called stable.
This is only for the peoppe we want to live of the cutting l, less stable, edge

Everything works good for me, except I miss my yahoo mail sync…It says invalid username/password but I sign in all the time online, even from the phone, and I used the right port and imap url. Anywho, thanks. I had to fetch google maps oddly too. That’s the only thing that vanished when I loaded the 4.2.0 rom. I’m gonna donate as soon as my yahoo syncs again…it won’t sync through the email app anymore.

After trying these my Magic is stuck on vodafone startup screen.
Did all these
1- Perform a Backup……nandroid, etc
2- Download: http://developer.htc.com/adp.html#s3 Android 1.6 Recovery Image. This isn’t the type of recovery image we know. It’s HTCs version of an update.zip
3- Download my ROM. Posted Below
4- Mount your phone and place BOTH 1.6 Image and my ROM on your SD Card.
5- Reboot into recovery mode *Home+Power*
6- WIPE!!!! This will allow google apps to function, correctly.
7- Apply sdcard:choose zip *PICK dream_devphone_userdebug-ota-14721.zip* from the list
ALLOW IT TO INSTALL FIRST…..you will see the “unbox” image………then it will automatically reboot HOLD HOME button while it reboots.
8- Apply sdcard:choose zip *Pick cm-4.1.99-signed.zip* from the list.
9- Reboot!
At step 7 i saw unbox image and then hold home and waited but nothing.
phone stuck on startup. no boot no startup nothing.doesnot let me do anything

Hi, I found that the wifi connection is not stable enough for daily use after my flashing 4.2.2 to my g1. Sometimes, I step with my G1 out of my wifi coverage and step in again, I found that the wifi status icon was still in connection mode even the wifi coverage is beyond. Could you check this issue?
I have not found this issue while my G1 is flashed with other roms.
