  2. #2 by Ruben on November 13, 2009 - 2:15 am

Multitouch is working in 4.2.4! The browser zooms in/out clipping the fingers,Tried MTVisualozer.apk to confirm it.
Magic 32B upgraded from cyanogen 4.2.3.1.

  3. #3 by Ruben on November 13, 2009 - 2:24 am

    Sorry, MTvisualizer.apk.
Thanks Cyanogen for the mod. I’m hoping you would include more locales next release. Great Job!

looks cool but my G1 just started randomly rebooting :(

  5. #5 by Dar Devy on November 13, 2009 - 4:01 am

Even after I did a wipe. It still keeps rebooting from time to time… I am gonna roll back to 4.2.3.1 until this is resolved. I will also try to get the G-Navigator too and see. Good luck to Cyanogen,

    Possible stupid question warning:

Can someone explain to me compcache and ‘home app memory lock’.

I know what compcache and home lock is, I’m just wondering how it works with the G1. Should I have compcache and swap. (By swap I mean a swap partition on the SD card.) If I do need a swap partition, how big should it be? And does it work automatically? I remember a bunch of stuff about back swap vs. compcache vs swap and you had to configure a bunch of stuff.

Also, what exactly gets locked in memory for the ‘home app’?

Hi all, am new to android.. using a Unlocked HTC Hero (am using MoDaCo Custom Hero ROM..) Can I use the CyanogenMod 4.2.4 on my HTC Hero… Thanks in advance.

  8. #8 by Kev on November 13, 2009 - 6:00 am

@#50 no problem, I backed up my 4.2.3.1 the flashed 4.2.4 and restored back with no problem.

  9. #9 by rich on November 13, 2009 - 6:05 am

    4.24 no Chinese?

  10. #10 by Tony on November 13, 2009 - 6:54 am

Finally got it stable…I think. Had to wipe then flash down to a stable rom (4.1.9999) then downloaded 4.2.4. and transferred it to my sdcard via usb. Then rebooted, wiped (again) and installed 4.2.4. Seems to be okay now, just have to reset my settings but that’s not a big deal.

However, I’ve tried OBEX push to send picture files from my phone to my PC and it does send the files and my PC receives them…HOWEVER, the files are corrupted in teh transfer somehow. The images will not display in Windows Fax Viewer (either the message displayed says ‘No Preview Available’ or ‘Drawing Failed’.

    Is Bluetooth still iffy?

  11. #11 by Michael Adick on November 13, 2009 - 7:02 am

@rich: not sure what you mean. google pinyin works with 4.2.4 (shows Chinese characters), so does the browser, and so does the translation app that i use “translate”

  12. #12 by Michael Adick on November 13, 2009 - 7:13 am

@SXRXE. the settings can be found when you open the app Messaging, press menu key and there will be settings (or preferences, forgot…) and you can set vibration when receiving a message.

  13. #13 by Jordan Kohn on November 13, 2009 - 7:18 am

Thank you I do like this version alot it seems to be running alot faster than 4.2.3.1

  14. #14 by SXRXE on November 13, 2009 - 8:41 am

    @Michael Adick
Now I feel like an idiot lol
But I could swear it was not there last time I looked :s

  15. #15 by Tim on November 13, 2009 - 10:04 am

I have HSDPA internet access, but my htc magic with cyanogenmod 4.2.3 shows online 3G, but not H (in top right corner). If this bug is fixed?

  16. #16 by stan on November 13, 2009 - 11:38 am

i am having this issue with calls after i get the call theres an android pic like cartoon on the screen and i cant get it to stop i just want my calls and no cartoon. can i turn it off

  17. #17 by Dar Devy on November 13, 2009 - 12:10 pm

Hoo boy! One problem after another. After rolling back to 4.2.3.1 and trying to install the google navigation, the maps is gone.

  18. #18 by Mike on November 13, 2009 - 12:36 pm

there are some issues, for instance app downloading. first it let’s me download, then it says download failed, when i click on the “failed” notification, it disappears, but about 15-20 sec. later the download shows up again (at the percentage where it stopped), when i click on it, it brings me to the makret, but there is no active download in the market…. etc. etc. i just rebooted the phone to see whether the download can complete

  19. #19 by Christian on November 13, 2009 - 2:25 pm

I have a rebooting G1, too. Every now end then it reboots, I don’t even notice it, except, that I have to unlock it everytime (enter PIN).

  20. #20 by LordOfTheDivX on November 13, 2009 - 3:13 pm

While trying to call or answer, the Phone app crashes, restarts and crashes the phone. I reflashed 4.1.9999 and then 4.2.4 – getting rid of anything I may have done. I guess I’m not the only one with problems though. I think my phone needs a shrink…

  21. #21 by obrockmeier on November 13, 2009 - 4:17 pm

    Installed 4.2.4 yesterday. awesome rom.

However, Google Voice is now constantly force closing. Anyone have this problem??

  22. #22 by Dirk Jan on November 13, 2009 - 4:34 pm

    Niceeee! Multitouch :’D
Pity that it does’nt work in the album, like the iphone. Maybe something for the next release.

But why is the music so soft (or what is the correct grammer :P opposite of loud. ) Did more users have this problem?

  23. #23 by Flynhawaiian on November 13, 2009 - 5:26 pm

thanks for the reply dan…..i’m a noob at the smart phones and trying to do some research and get an understanding of it all but if i’m not correct i saw somewhere that someone talked to the guy that makes cyanogenmod and supposedly he told them that he would be coming out with an ROM for the android 2.0 soon supposedly? anyone else heard this? i like my phone but I think if i used the cyanogenmod it would speed it up and stop it from freezing, forcing closes sometimes as well as turning itself off completely

  24. #24 by Howie on November 13, 2009 - 5:41 pm

I too have a rebooting G1 that’s eating up all my battery. It has rebooted 6 times in the past hour and a half.

  25. #25 by Brad on November 13, 2009 - 5:56 pm

    Cyan,

Is there a script you’re using to initiate the forbidden (aka Google) app copy process that can be launched manually some how? None of my google apps seem to be installed post 4.2.4.

  26. #26 by Lucas on November 13, 2009 - 8:44 pm

    Hi Cyan,

Why had you delete other languages??
Could you told US? Everyones asking but ther’s no any answer from your side… :/

We’re waiting and thanks for your work!

Everyone get dolphin browser its the best

  28. #28 by CyanFan on November 13, 2009 - 11:04 pm

If your mobile keeps rebooting, there is NO one correct answer to resolve it. Most users aren’t having that issue. Users who never wipe and think their themes & apps2sd will always be flawless, are dreamers…

Stop spending all your time dealing with a corrupted system and reformat SD, wipe mobile, then reinstall HTC image, then Cyan mod.

Reboot, then check it for issues without tweaking.

If no problem, install your apps, reboot, then check for issues.
If no problems then add your theme, reboot, then check your OS.

If no problem, enjoy your clean mobile.

  29. #29 by fragske on November 13, 2009 - 11:45 pm

What’s the point of having a partition on your SD card to put apps on it then? I don’t feel like cleaning it everytime a new image comes out. It makes apps2sd a bit pointless then.

  30. #30 by Patrick on November 13, 2009 - 11:53 pm

    @ CyanFan,

You must use windows. The answer to everything is not to start all over again.

You should try to repair ext and fix_permissions, first.

Second, this is most likely a problem that will be resolved with an update from Cyan. No need to start wiping yet.

My phone keeps rebooting, too, but it’s not so much of a problem that I can’t wait a day or two for an update to come out. Cyan has already said he is releasing an update tonight-ish.

Unless you can give an explanation as to why wiping will solve the problem vs. waiting for the update, don’t get carried away and give empty advice.

  31. #31 by Patrick on November 14, 2009 - 12:07 am

    @ fragske,

The point of Apps2SD (as you already know) is to free up more space on the system partition.

Generally, there shouldn’t be any need to wipe between updates due to SD card issues. Of course, their are exceptions to this. (Such as when Cyan had to change the process for the Google C&D.) If you are having problems with your SD card, you should try ‘repair ext’ and ‘fix_permissions’, first. Also, you should consider upgrading your ext partition to ext3 or ext4 (if you haven’t already). ext2 doesn’t have good data recovery if your phone crashes.

However, if you are using a slower (class 2, or *maybe* class 4) SD card, you may have issues. This is not a problem with the software so much as a problem with the phone/SD hardware combo.

I would suggest that you get a class 6 SD card. Go to newegg.com and search for “class 6 micro sdhc” and you can find a 4 GB card for less than $10.

This is what I have been using and I haven’t had any problems since v3.9.7.

  32. #32 by surfernv on November 14, 2009 - 12:35 am

Just a small thing I have noticed in these mods. While great, I can’t adjust the volume of music when the screen is off. Running 4.2.4 on HTC MyTouch 3G and I haven’t seen anyone mention this.

  33. #33 by Insomnious on November 14, 2009 - 1:11 am

The Mod is slower than the previous one. Browser = turd.

  34. #34 by several on November 14, 2009 - 2:39 am

I’m suffering the G1 spontaneous reboot. This message is for others suffering the same:

via twitter cyanogen asked me to send him logs, which I did.

If you’re having the same problem, I’m thinking it would be helpful to him for you to send him your logs to so he can look for common problems between the logs of those of us suffering the reboots.

you can get SendLog from the market. use the “long” opton for type of logs to send.

i guessed at gmail addresses cyanogen@ and cyanogenmod@ and neither bounced so I’m assuming he got them.

  35. #35 by Rev. Spaminator on November 14, 2009 - 3:00 am

OK, so now I’m scared. I’m not sure I’m ready to deal with a rebooting phone. :)

Is this something a few people are seeing or are there tons who are just aren’t posting comments here?

  36. #36 by several on November 14, 2009 - 3:06 am

It’s not a big deal if it happens to you. I just rolled back to 4.2.3.1 until another version comes out with a fix.

  37. #37 by koach on November 14, 2009 - 3:22 am

This mod works fine on ADP1, however it is extremely laggy in comparison to 4.2.3.1. Cyanogen, scheduler tweaks in this one by chance?

  38. #38 by david on November 14, 2009 - 4:59 am

There seems too be a glitch…gmail seems to fc often.

  39. #39 by david on November 14, 2009 - 5:13 am

I download the media files but the phone doesn’t seem to recognize any of the notification files. I put the files in a folder called audio.

Is there a way to set it? Thanks!

  40. #40 by CyanFan on November 14, 2009 - 5:43 am

I only suggest wiping to those who want to try v424, rather than go back to previous versions– hoping the next version will work for them.

If v424 had rebooting problems for many users, then Cyan would have released an instant bug fix the first day he received.

I went back to stock 1.6 for 2+ months after a many FCs issues, rather than roll back to a previous Cyan. Now I am back, with the latest and loving it. No problems so far…

Anyone else see the multiselect of pics to delete pics in one click? Love it…

  41. #41 by Pravoo on November 14, 2009 - 5:44 am

After applying image. Not able to make call

  42. #42 by Hugo on November 14, 2009 - 6:09 am

I like the rom, but from version 4.2.1.3 I’m having an issue regarding SMS Notification Message…

I use Handcent SMS, and I’ve disabled the SMS notification in android so I can only see the notification from handcent… But even having the both disabled I still can see the SMS notification of the android base app…

  43. #43 by Randy on November 14, 2009 - 7:47 am

What is the loading please wait under ongoing in the little menu thing you pull down…

  44. #44 by Mickey G on November 14, 2009 - 1:55 pm

I’m a huge fan of the ROM (thanks to my brother in law for the introduction). I’ve been using the Cyanogen’s mods since July.

I had the random reboots on the previous release, but not this one. I’m sure he’s “on it”.

Also, how about more of the easter eggs in this release in the meantime? The new delete all for photos, the new look folders and icons, the wallpapers, etc?

    What have you found?

  45. #45 by Michael Adick on November 14, 2009 - 2:35 pm

    since some asked:
i have no problem with reboots. actually the phone once rebooted by itself on 4.3.2.1, but that was it: “once”.
    never on 4.2.4

  46. #46 by bankwing on November 14, 2009 - 5:53 pm

i updated to 4.2.4 but i can’t type in address bar in browser

  47. #47 by Matt Guzman on November 15, 2009 - 12:32 am

Only thing I had happen was when I accidentally hit the ringer vol button while getting a text and the screen when black and I had to 3 finger salute to get it back. I waited like 10 mins for it to fix (the led indicating a text was still flashing) but it did not. Also when i was in a phone call and had another call coming in, i went to switch calls but the guy on the other end could not hear me. He said it quit ringing, but no sound for him. Other than that, I love it. I also have the new google nav too.

  48. #48 by Thai Nguyen on November 15, 2009 - 12:53 am

Steve, I’ve been an avid fan of your ROM since I switched to the G1. You’ve definitely set the bar high for other Android developers/hackers. Just two comments:
    1) I upgraded to the latest release. The only real “issue” I have is that while in the browser in landscape mode, I can’t see what I’m typing in the text field even though keyboard taps still register. This is the case with both the Android and HTC keyboard.

    2) Do you accept donations other than through paypal (e.g., free beer of your choice)?

  49. #49 by several on November 15, 2009 - 2:18 am

i seem to have gotten past the spontaneous reboot problem. here’s what I did:

    1) Rolled back to 4.2.3.1
    2) Did a Nandroid backup
    3) Wiped
    4) Flashed to 4.2.4, logged in to google to finish 1st run
    5) Restored last Nandroid backup.

  50. #50 by turturis on November 15, 2009 - 3:27 am

    @several

Have you taken a look at what version you are running now after your nandroid backup?

My curiosity is killing me. It would seem that you restored back to the previous version of 4.2.3.1 thus putting you at a version that was admittedly working for you.
