Is it possible to change the Splash screen in your ROMs?
And if, is there a guide somewhere that i can follow?

@james,
Are you stuck on the G1 screen, or the recovery screen?
If you can get to the recovery screen, have you tried wiping and re-installing the CM rom?
You may have to install the 1.6 recovery image from HTC first and then flash the CM rom.

I can’t get the Google maps loaded on a MyTouch 3g with the cyanogenmod 4.2.6. Can you direct me to a site that might provide help with this? The notification says “Incompatible Update”
