schweini: wipe. go back to 4.1.9 and do the long update with the htc image then the 4.1.9 image (without wiping after installing the htc image). If you hose your system go back to 1.5 and take a look at this link ( http://www.ryebrye.com/blog/2009/08/16/android-rooting-in-1-click-in-progress/ )

Take a look on the XDA developer site for this information also.

ok, now that I have answered a question can I ask one?

Is anyone else having trouble with the barcode reader after the 4.2.5 update? I did not wipe. It was working in 4.2.4. The camera works for me, and the video camera does also, so i think that it is not a hardware issue.

what files can i look at on the system to figure this out?

are there any answers on the XDA forums?

The fastest rom ever on G1! Also love the option of be able to turn off home screen rotation in spare part. Install the gmap nav and it’s working great so far. The only issue so far is “mybackup pro” fc and not working. Looking into that right now.

    CM rocks in this release!

  • Jman

cyan newbie is worng I have google maps I got it from a post from xda forums it is sweet btw!

  • Stormbringer

Yip also still getting the random restart, but it is only when I am traveling, so I thing it is either when loosing 3g signal or jumping towers.

  • Jospeh

Is there a way to hide certain icons in the home menu( voice serch..voice dialer and others)? Or just delete them?

  • levi looper

somehow for the Magic 32A, 4.2.3.1 was faster than 4.2.5….hmm

  • Fuguillas

Very good job Cyanogen, awesome works. Only one issue, my APPMANAGER don’t works since update to 4.2.5. I tried to reinstall the app from the market but, don’t works. I installed other app manager.

Thank’s so much for your continuous work to improve the Android OS.

Where i can send new APN’s to get updated on cyanoged ROM ?

  • Tidus0515

Hey cyanogen, I know I am not a developer or anything, but I think it would be a good idea to try an add usb access from the recovery menu. Like, couldn’t there be a way to toggle usb to a computer from the recovery image so if someone messes up they can still fix it from the recovery menu? Thanks.

  • lfarkas

I’ve got a Sciphone N21 (which is the same as General Mobile DSTL1). is there any plane to Cyanogen support for these phones too? thanks in advance.

  • Peet

Great job. Since cyanogenmod, Android is so much better. My Magic device is faster than it never was before.

Bluetooth, bluetooth? PC to Phone only @ the moment – UNLESS someone wants to tell me different…

  • Josh

After the upgrade, clicking search in the Android Market causes my G1 to reboot consistently. Anyone have the same problem?

Thanks again for all the work Cyanogen!

  • Mike

    @Tony
Stereo bluetooth headsets work just fine on 4.2.5

  • Mike

    @Alex O
i had a similar symptom, but in a totally different app. suddenly the “back” button seems not to react. i had to use “home” key, but then when going to that software i used (either market, or maybe even browser) i was right there as before.
    then G1 decided to reboot

  • Tony

@Mike – not talking about stereo bluetooth. OBEX push doesn’t work properly. PC to phone file transfers = working. Phone (G1) to PC file transfers = not working properly! files get transferred but are corrupted! Image files will not open (finally tried to open a couple in PS3 and only a few pixels were transferred from the image) and mp3 file transferred with a LOT of distortion.

Bluetooth connection to my headunit works fine. But OPEX Push file needs work…

until then, Bluetooth, bluetooth? Anyone seen bluetooth?

  • Todd

Well I determined that I have some SD card corruption. I ended up booting with a Knoppix live DVD, opening a terminal, su to root (no password).

I put in my SD card and its FAT32 partition became /dev/mmcblk0p1 . Then I used dosfsck several times to repair it as best I could with -trv as well as -av flags. I also deleted some directories on the card using ASTRO after rebooting.

It seems to work okay but I’m concerned about this and thinking I should get a shiny new class 6 MicroSD card.

So here’s the question: What’s the easiest way to copy all partitions (ext2, linux-swap, and FAT32) over to a new SD card? I don’t care if I have to boot into Knoppix, or if it involves ADB, or something else, I just need to know how to do it without somehow screwing up the rest of my G1 or making the old SD card worse.

  • sparks

Tidus, While in recovery mode, you can goto the terminal, and USB mount your phone there.

As for I, sometimes at random, illl press the Back arrow, and all of a sudden my camera program opens up.

  • Rob

    @Tidus0515
Try RA-dream-v1.3.2 recovery image on xda developers. It has USB toggle on menu.

    @Alex O
If you have a bug to report, do so on google code.
    http://code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod/issues/list
That way people can confirm the bug and/or star it so it gains more attention.

    @Cyanogen/Steve
Thanks for all your hard work. This release is the best ever. So damn fast, and no problems thus far on my device! Thanks a bunch

  • Atlis

AppManager is crashing on 4.2.5, Sygic Mobile Maps 2009 crash when GPS is on – both on 4.2.4 and 4.2.5…

  • Todd

Looks like others just solved the SD cloning problem. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4962333#post4962333 for the instructions, which I think ultimately came from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=582787 .

Armed with that information, I’ve ordered a shiny new 16GB Class 6 RIData MicroSD card from Newegg.

  • chandi

love the rom update.. i have both google navigation and facebook 2.0 from droid running on it no problem.

First of all…I have to say I absolutly love everything that is being done with this mod! I just want to know if anyone else is having issues with your phone will just reset itself randomly.

  • Kristian

    My gmail app doesnt work……??

  • Greg

This is by far the best update ever. Thank you for making my mt3g usable.

  • Gary

Newbie to root and loving it so far. My phone was slow and lagged before rooting. Nice job on the instructions and on the work you did on the build

  • arno

I only have an issue with FLAC. The rest is a dream as usual. And as usual – thank you so very much Mr Kondik!

  • droidjunky

Lovin 4.2.5 – awesome build for my G1. Thanks so much for your efforts Cyan! Question is anyone experiencing a forceclose when trying to dial a contact number? (android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly)

  • Drew

any chance of adding the eclair lockscreen it looks pretty snazzy

  • archboy69

Love the work! Updated through the updater and everything seems to work perfectly and fast!

edit: I tried the updated HTC sync and it doesn’t seem to see the phone when connected.

  • Ryan

Loving 4.2.5!!!! These ROMs have brought MT3G alive!!!! I appreciate what you are doing for the android community.

  • robert

The first thing i noticed was the increased performance boost of this mod. Defidentley love the performance boost. Thanks for developing probably the best android rom mod to date

  • akiko

    great great job cyanogen!
its faster and way better than before.

an observation: when i listening to music and an SMS gets in, sound gets lost. i have to reboot to get the sound back on.

  • SpecterTechOps

Experiencing fc’s when home screen changes orientation. Even when opening hard keyboard. Anyway to fix this? Loving the new mod and the google maps w/ nav. Which just needed a reinstall after the update remember to remove all files you had installed b4 and re add them.

  • Lester

@akiko make sure you have the latest radio, I had the exact same problem and updating my radio solved it for me! it should be 2.22.19.26I

  • Dan

Looks great and really quick but when on a call, the screen does not capture any screen touches on the G1.

For example, I can only using the menu and trackball to “Press 1″.

  • Ed

AppManager crashes with 4.2.5. Also, screen timeouts even while in the middle of using several apps (solitaire, messaging, google maps).

Otherwise, excellent update, very happy with speed boost :) Thanks for all your work!!

  • Howie

Still seeing Locale-related reboots with 4.2.5 and the latest version of Locale. My settings in Locale turn on/off Wifi, perhaps that’s the issue?

  • phrugal

Having problems with screen timeout after ~10 seconds. I change the setting from 1 min to 2 min and still get screen turing off after ~10 sec. Does not matter what app.

    anyone else having this problem?

    everything else seems PERFECT!

    Thanks,
    Phrugal

  • Buils2

Can you add in contacts the date of birthday? and sync with contact in google, thx.

  • koach

How to be a “miracle worker”:

    1) 4.2.3.1 was really fast
    2) 4.2.4 was dog slow
    3) 4.2.5 is fast again, but not quite as fast as 4.2.3.1

Everybody join in: “Wow, 4.2.5 is the fastest ROM ever!” C must be a miracle worker!

Hi guys, I’m still having issues with the End button behavior. I’ve set it to Home>Sleep, however it still just goes straight to sleep. I’ve had this issue since all 4.2′s, however this is a small price to pay for a phone I’ve used more than my pc in the last 2 months.
