Apps download from Market but "Installation of ... was unsuccessful." or "Installation Failure" occurs for many, even those previously successful.
Problem started when I upgraded from 1gb non-partitioned SD to 8gb partitioned SD. Some apps were lost in the upgrade and I haven't been able to restore them. Others work fine and upgrade with no problems, still others (even previously not installed apps) are unsuccessful.

Current config:
G1, Firmware 1.6, Kernel 2.6.29.6-cm42, CyanogenMod 4.2.9.1, Build DRC83, running apps2sd with class4 8gb SD partitioned as per

Any suggestions? Is there a better place to post this question?

Thanks

When I updated from cm 4.2.5 to 4.2.6, I started noticing much unwanted lag. The next cm update (came just days later it seemed) 4.2.7.x, I didn't do a nandroid backup because I did not like how 4.2.6 was running. Turned out that 4.2.7.x was just the same, with or without a custom theme. I then began to wonder if I should reboot and do the nandroid backup to get back to 4.2.5 or install it again from the CM Updater app from the Market. Well, I re-installed (flashed) with the CM Updater app. All is well again with my phone and would recommend to anyone having issues with the same setup/issues as me, to do as I have done.

Phone: G1, T-Mobile, v1.6, RC83, SPL ???, cm-recovery 1.4
8 GB SDCard - 6.5 GB for files, 1,040 KB app partition, NO Swap partition. *So I have no access to some of the card's memory.
Theme: Any theme seems to work fine (I love seeing them all in action and testing their capabilities)

I'd love to help anyone out with issues dealing with CyanogenMods on the G1. My FaceBook name is "Craig Miller" and email I use for FaceBook is CMicroTek@Yahoo.com

This has crashed very often for me, often during boot. Also, the battery drains exceptionally fast with this rom. Previous two seemed more stable (certainly 2.4), and neither had the battery life effect.

@patrick

Yes I did reset my phone when I installed the HTC Rom, and I am using the HTC Rom named ’signed-dream_devphone_userdebug-ota-14721.zip’.

That's why its weird I followed same install sequence that you did and I cannot find anyone else that has hit the same problem. So ya kind of aggravating.

Do you have twitter by the way?

@ryan,

And, make sure you have the HTC file with -ota- in the file name. The correct HTC ROM should be exactly named 'signed-dream_devphone_userdebug-ota-14721.zip'. If yours is different, that's your problem.

@ryan,

This is super weird.

I didn't do anything special when I installed. I've used my phone both with and without apps2SD, with and without compache and/or swap, etc. My point is, I've used just about every combination of configurations, and they all worked.

I there is only one thing coming to mind right now. When you installed the HTC ROM, did you reset the phone before you installed the CM ROM? The 'proper' install sequence is as follows:

1. Download the HTC ROM 'signed-dream_devphone_userdebug-ota-14721.zip'
2. Download the latest CM ROM.
3. Put both ROMs on your SD Card
4. Go to Recovery
5. Flash HTC ROM
6. DO NOT RESET PHONE
7. Flash CM ROM
8. reset phone to finish install
9. cross your fingers

Maybe you already did this, but it's the only thing I can think of right now.

@patrick

ya I reinstalled the t-mobile 1.0 the updated to 1.5 (cupcake) and everything worked perfectly in both. That is what is weird.

I have not installed any customs spl's and no I am not using apps2sd. That was my next task.

I thought I may have down the cm mod wrong so thats when I reset and tried again and the same thing happen like last time so its not me. so i am at 1.5 right now trying to figure out whats up so i can do it right.

So ya you can imagine my aggravation.

What setup did you use to successfully mod your phone with cm4.2.6 so i can see what you did versus what I did.
