Michael, thx again. I did find the app and finally got Maps uninstalled and reinstalled after a little playing around and retries. Strangely enough, the app icon says SUFBS with no “M.” Your help is much is appreciated. I think I’ll stay at 4.2.5 for a while longer.

@ bunta
Did you make any progress?
I took my friend’s phone back to 1.5, re-rooted, flashed the CM 1.4 recovery img through telnet and reinstalled the HTC 1.6 base ROM. All was gravy…until I tried to install the CM ROM. The exact same problem as before. A file was corrupted during the installation of the CM ROM, installation aborted, I had no choice but to reboot and I’m back to where I was before. Stuck on the HTC 1.6 base ROM. Piss off doesn’t even begin to describe how I’m feeling right now.
I’m about to say #$%^ it and buy her an Iphone.
Let me know if you fared better than I did.

I’m wondering if Cyanogen is working on a new version? Will you be putting something out for the G1 that is based on 2.0 or more like something based on 1.6? I’m curious about how compatible 2.0 is with the G1 hardware? Like maybe too much of a leap to try to creat a ROM for G1 that is based on 2.0? What is in the works in the mad mind of Cyanogen?

hey quick question, i’ve been wondering this for awhile. Is there a simple method to set different volume profiles for ringer and media volume when the headphone jack is unplugged/plugged in?
turning down the volume each time i plug it into the car or my headphones so i won’t blow out my ears seems so…repetitive.

I think the author should focus more on bug fix rather than adding new features. E.g. the gmail notification and reboot problems exist for ages but still not fixed which make this Rom unstable for daily use.

I think the author should focus on whatever the heck he wants to, since he’s doing this for fun.

I know this isn’t very helpful but I’m having lots of crash issues and battery life management problems. The tail on my battery is very long so this version is incorrectly reading battery life for the 100-15% range because mine lasts longer in the 15%-0% range. Forced shutdowns and stalled boots have been common, especially with Google Listen app. Finally, home crashes constantly and is much slower to load/populate than with previous versions. Reverting to an old version now.

Most having issues were reporting with 4.2.7 rom. One needs to upgrade to 4.2.7.1 for the fixes I suppose.

I had the same problem, but I think it was a DXtop issue not the ROM itself. Which Home app are you using if any? If you happen to be using DXtop then check for an update. The latest update is very stable. I tried GDE too after I realized DXtop was lagging worse than usual after a particular update. GDE ran great for a day then an update was released that made it run worse than DXtop ever did. Just to be on the safe side I ran fix_permissions in terminal, uninstalled and reinstalled both apps. Updated DXtop and compared the two on 4.2.7
GDE in it’s current state sucks, DXtop was far more stable. Check your Home app. It could be the issue.

@jRob320
To be fair, I’ve flashed Cyanogen ROMs for months now on my g1 and rarely had any issues. But with this latest ROM, my g1 has rebooted itself at least three times since I flashed 4.2.7 Also, I rooted and re-rooted a friend’s phone (Bunta, I got it working, sucked what I had to do to GET it working though) and everything was fine except it rebooted itself as we were logging into her Gmail account. I didn’t even have her on 4.2.7 because there was an error in the installation even after I used checksum. I installed 4.2.4 instead since that was the last ROM I had readily available.
Sometimes weird things happen…it’s tech…it happens. Now ask me would I dump Cyanogen ROMS and root to go back to vanilla android LOL. My rooted G1 runs as smooth if not better than my co worker’s Droid.

I can’t get predictive text to STAY off. I HATE it trying to “help” me and always keep it off, but no matter how many times I turn it off, it keeps turning back on. Other than that everythign else is running smooth

Just upgraded from t-mobile to the latest (2.4.7.1) rom on MT3G. Awesome! Very fast. One concern: before I used Email app to access my free yahoo account. Now it won’t let me configure yahoo. I get a mix of “wrong username/password” and “cannot access the server” errors. Anyone has it working? Appreciate your advices.

I have 4.2.7.1 and it doesn’t work good at all. I started thinking my G1 was getting really tired or something, but happily it’s probably just the developer proving he’s a human too (first time for me anything doesn’t work perfectly).
Flashing back to 4.2.5 or wherever my latest Nandroid backup will lead me, and waiting for a new re-release!
Good luck!

My problems were:
force closes on many apps, and on home
very very slow to load homescreen
very slow to do anything else too, ran taskiller all the time
phone rebooting randomly (very annoying, has happened at least 3 times)

I am back on 4.2.5 now, and it seems to work like it should
I did a wipe and then reinstalled the update.

Haa anyone experienced the following: the phone starts vibrating, the buttons are flashing (not the screen), but when I push any button nothing happens. Then the phone reboots by itself.
Running 4.2.7.1 on mytouch

My g1 did the same thing a couple days ago. Thought someone was calling but there was no sound and pulsing vibration and it was locked up had to force reboot.

I’ve had the same as #34 and #35. I’ve had to remove the battery, because I couldn’t answer and I couldn’t get it to stop.
I also had something completely wipe my SD card yesterday (all my backups, pictures, music – everything gone).
This issue probably had nothing to do with the current ROM (I did install one app yesterday) but I’m keeping an eye on the comments.

Has anyone else had this issue? I am running cyanogenmod 4.2.7.1 on a G1 and all of the sudden when I plug my usb cable into the phone there is no option to mount. the only option is usb debugging. Any help would be appreciated.

I was getting the calls locking up and screen going black. I noticed it happened after I did a complete wipe and install of 4.2.7.1. I then used the CM upgrader and did another install on top of it. It went away. Then I did the 10mb memory hack, it started up again. So i did another CM updater install and it stopped again. Guess you guys could try that, don’t know if it will help. Have not had a lock up in 2 days, was getting it on about 3/4 of my calls all day.

Same issue with Documents to go. Everything works but Sheet to go. Since Dec. Update. It won’t parse the file correctly. Dataviz cant figure it out. Any way it could be the rom version?
