I thought I fixed the music issue by adding the audio folder and fixing notifications as Mickey G suggested. I tested with inserting and removing the USB cable and no music. I think rebooting, though, reset whatever settings were fixed so the issue is back.
I upgraded from 4.2.3.1. Is there a version between that and this that anybody can recommend for my G1?
Also, for the music issue, I’m using the Advanced Task Manager widget to kill the music immediately.

I too have the home screen crashing and then taking a long time to load widgets / icons again. Occurs after exiting various apps, most notable are settings and dolphin browser. Some apps more than others, and the longer spent the more likely it is to time out.
Seems alot of people have been having this with all versions since 4.2.5 … any ideas on fixes? This is with the default home screen.

Other thing I was going to say last night was that sometimes the task bar drop-down menu stops working. You can’t drag it down until you reboot. Not sure what is causing it. Works most of the time though, but it never happened before.
I have a good feeling about the 50lb bug-smashing hammer that cyanogen is wielding!

I’ve just installed the 4.2.8.1 release and it seems to be flawlessly running on my G1. The issue that the camera randomly crash while turning the phone landscape and portrait seems to be gone as well.

@scott:
there’s a wiki page dedicated to all this stuff. Link is at the top of the page you are currently looking at. Everything u need to know is there. FYI it’s called “apps2sd” and is automatic in the cm builds. You just have to partition your sd. PLEASE reference the wiki.

For those having issues with a delay in widgets showing on the home screen. Open the Spare Parts and scroll all the way down and make sure ‘Home app in memory’ is checked. I was getting frustrated too and ever since then, I haven’t had any issues. What this will do is freeze the clock in Weather Widgets app. You will constantly have to refresh to have the clock in sync.

Awesome build and thanks again for your work Steve! Saw the new dialer and I like it..I like it a lot! One small issue, while you are on a call and you drag the dialpad up, the lower section is not visible, so while I am on a call and I have accidently dialed a number there is no way to backspace it and delete it since the backspace button went to the lower section of the screen!

Anyone have issue with music randomly playing? I was playing pandora when it started playing mp3’s off my sd card, quit pandora and every 15 mins or so it would start playing one of my mp3’s. I have another friend with the same issue after the upgrade to 4.2.8.1.

Have the “Home app in Memory” checked, and now going to home is much faster, but I have a 1 in 10 chance, of the home being permanently empty now, which is only cured by a reboot. Anyone else seeing this?

You might want to download the Paragon Partition Manager version 9 trial to setup your SDcard for Apps2SD. You can do it from the phone using command line but it’s easier if you use Paragon. Once your sdcard is formatted correctly, the ROM will automatically transfer your apps to SD. Good luck.

Installed 4.8.1. Was getting random reboots, very slow home screen, and frequently disappearing icons, and a few random bugs I attribute to the phone bogging down. Never happened with 4.7.1 So back I went!

4.8.1 Currently
Same Issue as #1 with the drop down notifications sometimes. Calendar Syncs even with having it unchecked. Like the new backdrop on the app. I think that 4.8 is faster than 4.8.1..maybe its just me…Other than that Love the ROM Great Work. Im hooked and getting all my G1 friends on it!

After upgrading to this ROM I have had some problems with calling people without country code. Am I the only one having this problem?

Problems I’ve encountered:
- If I’ve changed locations (e.g. from home to work), I have to go to wifi settings to get it to redetect the network. It won’t automatically reconnect.
- Last night I received a call, but the phone froze before I could answer it – it just kept ringing/vibrating, wouldn’t respond to any keypresses, so I had to take the battery out.
- Refresh times between screens are actually slower in many cases than the stock 1.6

Running 4.2.8.1 on my MT3G and it seems to be working well. However, anytime I close an application and am brought back to the home screen, widgets and app shortcuts take several seconds to show up. Basically the screen is completely blank anywhere between 3-5 seconds. Hopefully that gets fixed soon, because it seems to be happening to other people.

4.2.8 and 4.2.8.1 both are supper buggy. in both versions I would receive a call and I would not be able to unlock my phone to answer it and the scree would lock and none of the buttons would work. the only fix was to pull the batter. I have down graded to way more stable 4.2.7.1 no issues with at build.
also another note is I have google nav install donno if that causing any of the issues.

Has anyone had trouble with their phone randomly freezing after partitioning the SD. I followed specific instructions on how to part the card, (4GB Class6) but it still freezes the phone

After looking around, using a guide here, a guide there i couldn’t update my already modded G1, it just came up with an error every time.
I tried half of your wiki, last half first, no success. so i started from the beginning of modding on your wiki, after doing most steps, then actually updating with the 1.6 recover (thank you so much, cant download a clean copy anywhere)
Anyway, all done,
My lesson, follow the guide completely espesh if its from a trusted source like here! any problems, format SD, start from the last ‘checkpoint’ again. it will work!
Cheers
Adie

Installed 4.2.8.1 and am having stability issues…phone has frozen and rebooted itself three times today in normal use. The first time the phone was locked and I received a google chat message, and the phone would not react when I double pressed menu, I continued to press it and the phone rebooted. The second time I was using bluetooth and made a call and the phone rebooted. The third time I was making a call (without bluetooth) and when I changed it from portrait to landscape it froze and reboot. Please fix!
