Is there a Mod on the horizon that includes Android 2.2 FRF85????? I miss the features, but love you addons

  • Richard:

    Rian,
I had the same issue you posted when I tried 720p. I just rebooted into recovery mode (home + end) and wiped the data. Then re-flashed with the 5.0.8 zip. I did not have to reinstall the gapps again on my G1 to fix the issue.

I have the MyTouch and I went to record video. Turned my options to the new 720 input, and it immediately terminated, force closed as soon as I turned the new option on. Now whenever i go to camera app it’d fine but when i click it up to record video it crashes immediately, not allowing me to switch the settings back to normal recording mode. :/ PLus there’s no replacement camcorder to download in the market.

Other than that, this is a truly astounding rom. Thank you so much.

  • ARENASMVP:

hey Cyan, can’t you make a ROM for Motorola Milestone????

  • sparky.engr:

ETA on 5.0.8 for the G1 via CM-Updater?

    Thanks. =)

  • Rufus:

    ROBO DEFENSE took a cr@p after 5.08 :(

  • Krispers:

I just updated to 5.0.8 and when I load the market, only free apps show now. Any suggestions?

  • Massimiliano:

This time I had to perform the full-wipe (as I was coming from 4.xx without wiping).
But it’s perfect and ADW Launcher is really cool.

My two cents: IMHO we don’t need 5.0.9, now we need 6.0 ^_^

  • Richard:

There a way to display the screen on at all times such as when using Pandora? This used to be an option in version 4.x.x. Now it list the maximum time as 30 minutes.

  • Schuster:

Anyone having issues with “Pandora” and other streaming radio being real choppy with 5.0.8? Went back to 5.0.7 and problem is gone, but no problems with just playing music from sd, only from streaming radio.

anyone having issues with the touch screen after this upgrade? ia am having problems with it being way off of where i touch eg: if i use the calculator sometimes i will touch 3 and a 9 will come up,or i will try to touch one of my contacts and a totally different one comes up. things like that, if i reboot or even turn power of for a few secomds it will be fine for a little while then acts up again. did full wipe before updrade. any suggestions?

  • Terrence:

Yes but TMobile in South Texas has been spotty for about 2weeks.(no 3G due to some service problem) I am not sure if this is related and cannot verify at this point.

  • PotatoBoz:

Richard – I did the same thing thinking wow the G1 can do 720p recording.. ! Apparently that was a foolish thought. However after being frustrated about it and seeing your post I thought I would try backing it up to the sd card then reinstalling it from my backup (not sure if that would have worked). I then realized if you go to the manage details and delete any related data then it would remove the bad selection and sure enough that worked! You are right this ROM ROCKS!! I have always been too hesitant to root/mod etc but wow I have sure been missing out! I had resigned myself to get the Samsung Vibrant (without a keyboard :( ) but now maybe my G1 still has some life left.

  • Alex:

    Really Great Rom.
Best for me ist the already implemented Apps2SD.
    And cool Bootscreen.
Don’t know how to update when the CM6 is releases. Will
    you give us an updater?
Really fast, but 1. Crash after 20 Minutes.

  • Massimiliano:

    Wifi Tethering Not Working
New CM user sorry if this problem has been discussed / old. What a GREAT ROM.
    Phone: Moto Droid
    Firmware Version: 2.1-update1
    Baseband Version: c_01.43.01p
    Kernel Version: bekit 2.6.29-omap1-bekit-0.8.4-5x1000sv
    Mod version: CM 5.0.8-droid
    Build: ESE81
On second days everything is running great. System is running at 800 Mhz.
My Problem (Step One): I cannot get the Internet tethering to work. The check box will not stay ON. It will / keep switching from disable to enable when I have the box checked.
Step Two: I would like to also get the Barnade Wifi (wireless tethering) app to work after getting the wired CM app working. Are there anyone that have this working or known problems with this app on CM. If so, please provide me the STEPS to get this app working.
Again, my real problem is the Barnade wireless app not working. I just moved to step one and getting wired CM debug first.

  • Richard:

  • Already been involved in cellular communications as an RF engineer since 1982 when I worked for Motorola. Had Blackberrys for the previous eight years or so, but just pre ordered a Samsung Vibrant through T-mobile. Need some new features and a new Operating system to play with. I’m let down that Tmobile has switched off the wifi hotspot feature in the Samsung Vibrant, but I’m certain somebody will certainly figure out just how to root it and add the feature back in. I am now carrying a wifi only iPad and want to wirelessly tether it to the phone. Looking forward to obtaining my new phone!

  • You have a very nice blog layout, I like it! Please post more content, because I am eager to see what you post next. I bookmarked you blog. Thank you!

  • Steambird:

I have a G1 and it was starting to look pretty bad compared to the new Android devices on the market. I had never done anything like flashing a new ROM before. I thought about it for a few months and decided to give CyanogenMod 5.0.8 a try, knowing that the result might be a brick. I am glad that I did. The wiki instructions are great. They walked me through every step. Now my G1 is amazing. It is faster, has very cool new features, and overall feels like a new phone. My battery life was bad, but I followed the reconditioning instructions and it greatly improved. I can get a full day or more now. I also purchased an inexpensive Class 6 4GB micro SD card and followed the wiki instructions for Apps2SD, it worked flawlessly.

I am seriously impressed by the quality of the ROM and the Wiki. Great work. If you are concerned about trying this yourself, don’t be. Take your time, follow the instructions carefully and exactly, and if you get stuck, search the community. It will all work out, and you will be very happy with the results. I will be staying with Cyanogen as long as I have a G1. When I get a new Android device, one important criteria will be the ability to run CyanogenMod on it. I want to say thanks to the whole CyanogenMod group.

is there a way to disable the the lock slider from vibrating when you slide button over I’m not talking about the volume of the phone but the lock slider it self I don’t see any settings to make lock slider silent or change it to beep instead when sliding. message me please.

  • BachinPhx:

Had installed this earlier today. LOVE the graphics. Sheer awesomeness. Changed to LP Pro. Lost signal, did a shut down/restart, Aw Snap, CONTINOUS automatic shutdown/restarts. Loving it so much, going to try it again.

Definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. :)

    Anyone else experiencing this phenomenon?

  • Charles Whealton:

I went with the 5.0.8 release because I can’t afford anything that’s not yet “stable”. I have to tell you – you do excellent work. It’s like having a new phone!

I can’t wait until the 6.x release is stabilized.

    Thanks!

  • Ricardo:

Thank you for the ROM, build is awesome and adds new life to my MT3G.

I do have one concern, but it probably has to do with my phone, on a fresh install (done it twice now, once trying the latest CM6) it takes anywhere from 3-5 seconds to load the home screen (launcher I suspect). I’ve updated to the latest build of AWLauncher but it still seems to take a while, once it’s loaded it runs quick again until I’m in an application for a while.

Would changing to LauncherPro alleviate these issues? Or is it because of the hardware and it’s having difficulty processing so much goodness? Perhaps I should overclock.

  • Andy:

@Ricardo – I had the same problem, but it was more like 8-9 seconds when going back to Home.
I fixed this by going into: “Settings | Spare Parts” and turned on COMPCACHE and LAUNCHER IN MEMORY.
Hope it works for you too!

  • Kevin:

    Hi there,

    I got Cyanogen 5.0.8
everything works great, i have app2sd installed and working.

Lookout app seems to be the only thing that i notice acting strange.
I’ve tried installing it on App2Sd and Internal ROM. The app status icon on the drop-down bar keeps disappearing and reappearing. Is there a way to fix this?
I even tried re-downloading app twice, once on ROM and once on Sdcard.
Can’t figure out how to get it to stop. Done everything I can possibly do.
    Anyone have any ideas?

Thank you for your team effort and support!
I will be more than happy to donate a handsome once I start lease purchasing my tractor with my company.

    -Kevin

  • Lvcio:

PLEASE MAKE SOME CUSTOM OPTIMIZED ROM FOR Milestone!!! C’Mon Cyan! PLZ (:

  • PunjabiJatt:

I am having issues with this! i have successfully installed this ROM, but everytime i enter settings or an app, when i press “home” to return the main screen, it always takes time before it shows me all the icons etc… why is that happening and how can i improve that?
i would really appreciate the help, im frustrated by this problem…
    i have the original G1
    CM 5.0.8
    Radio is updated

  • Steambird:

My G1 had a slow response to the home button as well, I turned on the “Launcher in Memory” config suggested above, (Settings > Spare Parts > Launcher in memory) and the home screen seems much faster now.

Since this is not the default setting, I guess there may be a downside to this, but I don’t know what it might be.
