you know i asked about the credit thing so i could change accordingly to do right but no one would answer me. this was all said to be about credit, it turned into a witch hunt. i tried in the IRC and pm’d cyanogen on df and asked about the credit, from them personally to add how they wanted so there couldnt be anymore problems.

here is my thing also. everyone claims he was a fraud but no one complained about 9.8 the original source build from blackdroid. since he has a source build that is his own is it really that hard to believe with so many files that there couldnt be a mix up?

seems this could all have been done right away with an answer to me about the credits, which i would have changed personally right away to do the right thing and make it right.

and im not biased, bc if blackdroid stops making ud i will be going back to cyanogenmod which i run time to time bc i like cyanogen and koush’s work and have nothing but respect for them as developers. also i run cyanogenmod in between ud release also. i like both roms alot. and not just 10.0. been running his since 6.0 and koushs since 5.0.5. so im not biased, believe correct credit is right and necessary.

on a personal note, bd did an interview before and said cyanogen was his reason for making roms, that he inspired him to start makign roms. so why would he intentially rip off the person that was the reason he started doing the whole rom thing?

and if bd is so bad, why did koush ask him a few weeks ago to join cyanogenmod team? bd declined bc he likes doing his own thing. which people doing there own thing is how we get new things and see changes in stuff. not mean or stir up stuff, just opinions and thoughts. just went way to far out of hand if you ask me.

To be honest, how would you feel if people copied your code, word for word, and most importantly, bug and feature for bug and feature, all the while criticizing you about it?

Doesn’t that sound very… hypocritical? Why are you using code that you say, um, sucks, without even so much as a tweak?

If he even tweaked the code a little, the code would’ve been arguably his, and his complaints about the ROMs BD is based on will hold water. We can then say BD is the better ROM because of these tweaks, which differentiate that ROM from Cy.

But he didn’t, apparently. <_<

Guys, you ever heard of the term honor among thieves? I don't believe in software patents, draconian copyrights, and ownership of code, but I do believe in constructive criticism, and I do believe in giving credit where it's due.

Right now it looks like BD and the forums (and you two) are trying to cover BD's ass by mudslinging Cy. You aren't looking very good on the morality department there.

Especially after the forums banned Cy, you two really have no right to any moral high ground.

This is from a passing by chicken. An outsider who can't even use any of your ROMs because he doesn't own a compatible device.

The funny thing about all this is android is supposed to be a big community that learns helps and leads each other. I think that it is bullshit that cyan would go to such lengths to complain about code. What about JRummy who makes all his donation off of remix and has no original codes??? It seems like Cyanogen is tryin to be like apple. wait yall are running multi touch right?? Funny thing is why wasnt anything said when ultimate droid was on rom manager without BD’s approval??? When you point the finger 4 more always point back at you. I guess more than anything I am disappointed in the community for turning their back on one another. I did my comparison on 10.0 only. I did this comparison because BD _EXPLICITLY_ claimed not only on his UD thread, but on the ud.com webpage, and on his twitter, that it was built from source. It isn’t as he says that there were just a few cyanogenmod files. If you really look at the md5 signatures, _ALL_ but a few files match.

Your also saying we don’t talk about his first from source version 9.8. If you would like, I can md5 compare that too. Do you really want that though?

As for the exclusivity of a team developing for cyanogen. Heh. Like cyanogen said above. Submit a patch. I gaurantee it’ll be added to the CHANGELOG. cyanogen doesn’t change the changelog just at release time. You can watch that thing on a daily basis and see that he updates it quite regulary. Even in his comments in commits to git, he credits the people that make changes. He has no shame saying someone fixed something. As he said, he even welcomes it.

That is what he was expecting from BD. He made a half attempt by saying “some misc files” belonged to cyanogen / koush. But completely skirted the issue that everyone wanted to know the most about.

At this point, I would say accept the fact that BD blately stole credit and credibility for himself for work he did not do.

damn…. cmon checksums on soo many things matched. if it was “built from source” not so much of it would have been the same. i have done some coding, vb6 mostly… but still, you use code to learn code. when i was stuck id goto psc to find what i needed. use what i needed, give credit, then once id learn to implement it better, shorter, simpler ect… id give credit. simple “yeah i used CM code and themed it and changed these apps” would have stoped this all… but no, ended in this

i think droidforums has kept him open just checked the site and went right to the UD section with no problem, but i find it hard for them to close him down especially when that so called rom is the main draw to the site. I came from a droid to a nexus one and UD was one of the first roms i ever flashed but they never worked as good as petes bugless beast, but there was one thing you could always count on if a new bugless came out then there would surely be a new UD and the changelog would always match.

well to cyanogen and koush, you know how to reach me either df, irc or message on cyanogenmod forums, i have the reason, why and how it happened. it is something i would like to talk personally to you 2 about it first.

i would be upset if my code was used lke it was but i would pm that dev and talk with him to straighten it out. i wouldnt have acted like this bc 9 out of 10 times there is a reasonable answer and a simple fix.

a forums was spammed like no other, no direct talk form you to the dev that made the mistake, you are far form good guys in this situation. it could of been handle alot more professional from 2 “icons” of the android community. but w/e. i just wanna set the record straight and make the wrongs righted. locked section or not i want credit correct so when people view they know. and i want you guys first to know what happened. balls in your guys court now.

Glad he got shut down after the rom manager thing went down it was obvious he was getting a big head. And it turns out he was just stealing all along and “again” for that matter.

And admins at droidforums.net closed his section from posting and are leaving it there for awhile in case there is any relevant information available to people.

Cyanogen never spammed the forums. He never acted like a bad guy. He made one nicely worded post about it.

Admins at DF delted, citated, and banned accounts.

So say all you want, try to put down cyanogen and anyone else.

The truth is known. Same reasons DF wouldn’t keep up the spreadsheet of the facts. You can bash, and try to turn cyan and the rest of the REAL android community into the bad guys.

but again, we all know the facts, including those at DF. So just leave it alone.

just install cyanogen 5.0.6.1 with redrom theme from bgill and bam a red version of ultimate droid. runs super smooth with lwp running im not flashing anything else.

I allways thought his roms were bloated maybe its just my ocd but i could never run a bd rom.

cyanogen, cant find your gtalk. bc i would like to go back and forth explaining it all so there are no hard fellings. df removed my mod privs so as soon as the mod change the post it will be accurate for what is yours and koush’s work.
