I’m calling this 4.1.999 because I’m waiting for the MT3G OTA, and my new installer is a little different. The ROM itself should be incredibly stable, though. This is a modified version of AOSP 1.6 without the proprietary bits. In order to get up and running the first time, you’ll need to follow some simple instructions.
Please visit the Wiki for information on how to install the Rom.

Oh and do I need to be running Donut to install this or if I never installed TMO’s ota of Android 1.6 and am still running 1.5 I will be fine right?
Or do you recommend installing 1.6 first? Thanks again!

Might be just me but since the update I can’t connect to GRPS (edge … no 3G in my area) network.
I’ve rebooted the phone twice.
Restored to CM-4.1.11 experimental and got mobile radio back.

Hello,
Thanks for the great work.
Just to let you know that in the alarm clock app, the days appear as numbers… Is there a file I could edit ?

Worked great! Even the Backup->Restore portion. Took maybe ~15 minutes and I’m 100% back to where I was, only with the new ROM. Running really smooth/fast.

Yup, I’m an idiot. The restore put everything back to 4.0.4.
Ok! so trying it again…

#13 by Evan on October 8, 2009 - 3:20 am
Ok and we’re back! 4.0.4 up to 4.1.999 works as advertised. Just about everything seems snappy and probably even a little more responsive.
The only problem I’ve had so far is that AdvancedLauncher force closes as soon as you hit it, so that’s a little bit of a 1.6 issue, I imagine.

Ok so I had to reflash back to 4.1.11 because both of the new roms run so extremly slow and laggy on my phone, I’ve tried re-doing all of the steps, and I did the fix_permissions in the concol.
If you can help un-lagify the roms..
Email me..

Perfect. Took less than 15 minutes to update from 4.1.11 ex > 4.1.999.
Backed up via nandroid, and restored, and have everything back to normal. Even got to keep all my native Google Apps.. weee!!

Thanks a miliion, the update process was very smooth (<5 minutes from 4.04). The Rom is very responsive and all my applications are there.
Small bug, the camera application crashes as soon as i click on settings, and i am unable to modify my camera settings therefore (t-mobile htc dream).
Thanks again, you rock!

@karimos
I had this problem on my HTC magic since 4.1.x, I did a lot of searching and found how to fix it. Here is a zip file containing all the tools you need to do it as well as a HOW TO.txt file explaining what to do:
http://www.divshare.com/download/8816179-10b
Make sure you unzip the zip file otherwise the command prompt commands won’t work.
@Ryan
You don’t need to do a manual radio update. The installer does it for you.

@Bob Garon
The audio resources are all the ringtones, notifications and alarm tones that were stripped out of the mod. You can put them back on by putting them in the media\audio folder on your sd card.

Although my stereo bluetooth headset works fine for calls and I can listen to music, I cannot control the music program with the headset’s skip and pause buttons. I was able to do this in the official build of 1.5, but it has never worked since I switched to CyanogenMod. I was just wondering if anyone else is having this problem?
Great work on the mod. Thanks again.

I successfully performed the update, however 4.1.999 made my G1 abysmally slow. This was happening even after a wipe and removal of all my apps from my ext2 partition.
I’ll stick to 4.04 until this issue is resolved. Perhaps all that’s needed is more nines..

Mine is running supers slow and hanging too. I had so many problems last night, that I wiped and went all the way back to rc29, re-rooted and re-flashed. no dice. Almost unusable now. Takes forever to even boot up. could it be an app problem?

So, dumb noob question…I know that the C&D was because of the proprietary apps, but if you install this firmware (I’m still using the stock T-Mobile G1 firmware), can you install the other programs yourself? I don’t mind jumping through a few extra hoops, I just want to be sure I can still use the Google apps I like.

Didn’t work for me, tried twice.
System almost frozen even after several reboots.
A couple of people over at simplehelp have the exact same problem.
Flash Recovery won’t work, maybe this has something to do with it?

I tried .999 on my Sapphire32b, following the instructions, and all went fine, I legally have google software now but… it’s damn slooow!! Opening apps, or simple pressin the menu button… and pressing quickly the home button triggers my softkeyboard and then the menu X_x…
Reverting back…

Ok, everything is working great now.
AMAZING MOD!
One suggestion, i think you should make an ext partition and apps2sd mandatory for all cyanogen users. most bugs seem to stem from memory issues related to not having apps2sd.

Cyanogen, this update 4.1999 is extremely laggy. I know you may think that this is because I may be stupid but I am not. I am a very avid hacker and adept to handling these kinds of tasks. I have reverted back to the cupcake edition. But just to let you know, EXTREMELY laggy. Couldn’t even make a phone call.

For some reason, the phone doesn’t ask me to Mount the SD card anymore (4.1.999). The debugging thing still pops up when I plug it into the computer, but no flash card mount guy.

People having problems with lag, try formatting your ext partition to ext3 or ext4 that should sort it out, my magic was unusable slow/ unstable but since change to ext4 it flies!

This worked on my mytouch (it was laggy for a couple minutes but I think it was just refreshing things).
BUT it broke my browser. Anybody think they know why that could have happened? I think I might have restored an old browser but then I’m not sure how to get a new one.

Is this Cyan’s ROM or all ROM…? but why when i adjust the incall volume does it change my ringer volume? Can these two be separated out? Ringer permanently set in settings (unless flipped to silent mode ect..)
Example: my Bluetooth YELLS at me so i turn both the piece volume and the toggle on the side of the phone down and than for days i miss a bunch of calls because i never head it ring, and i’m too lazy to change it because i know i’m going to use my headset sooner than later and don’t want to bleed from my eardrums the first call.
Can this please be fixed or someone explain how i can fix this myself?
Thank you
PS still don’t know how to get a keyboard in Counsel when booting int recovery.. And my auto correct still isn’t work any idea on those would be appreciated too. (see previous posts for more info)

As a coding dolt, I have no idea how you do what you do, but I am amazed at the end product and very thankful for the hard work.
Using a G1, 4.1.11 developed a bug within hours after install where the HTC keyboard would force close every 15 seconds or so. Used a 4.0.4 backup, problem persisted. Upgraded to 4.1.99, still force closing every 15 seconds or so.
Currently using the Android keyboard, but wanted to know if this is a known bug or I’ve done something stupid.

I also switched from 4.1.11.1 to 4.1.999 recently and experienced the same extreme lag. I read in someone’s comment to try formatting the ex2 to ex3…tried that and it worked perfectly! Saved me from reverting back to 4.1.11.1 Just wanted to pass on the tip..happy modding!!
